Posted on here before about this. It's been 3.5 weeks since i've ran and since then I have not done any physical activity, took a complete rest. Before this injury I was running 4x a week, 24 mi/week.
I developed pain on the upper lateral portion of my knee at the last mile of a run one morning. Hurt to walk downstairs. Since then the pain has flared down and (most times) doesn't hurt when I walk downstairs. However, I test ran on the treadmill and it comes back it .5 of a mile.
I have been using a lacrosse ball on my TFL and doing hamstring, quad, and hip stretches.
I am a student and sit and do school all day which I know is bad, but also not something i'm able to change.
I don't know what to do at this point and I have a major question:
a) If cycling doesn't hurt, should I do it as crosstraining? OR do you think it will contribute to my issues by tightening the muscles around the ITB?
b) I am confused about all the contradictory information out there on ITBS - people say its caused by tightness mostly, then encourage a ton of strength glute exercises. I'm confused. Should I add strength stuff to my routine?
c) Beyond seeing a PT, when do you think this warrants an MRI to rule out something other than ITBS?
Thorough responses wanted.
