I for one plan to get my hands on and try all of the Vaporfly competition.
I was a participant in the first GVSU study and was a “responder” - 5.58% more efficient in the Vaporfly (original) vs. the Adios 3.
For reference, I was 3.2% more efficient in the VF than in the Sub2.
None of this was terribly surprising to me - I have touchy feet which are far too sensitive in tight shoes - especially those with a lot of junk at midfoot on the sides. This is, sadly, why I can pretty much write off Adidas forever ... those three stripes need to be there causing me pain on everything they make.
That said: I would’ve kept buying Vaporflys even if they had been banned from competition. Nothing else has yet come close to keeping my legs fresh - I can run a sub-3 marathon in them and still run 50 miles the week after. (My first 3-hour in Clifton 1s put me out for a week entirely.)
Sam: your comparison of the TC to the ZF Flyknit has me most intrigued here. I’ve started putting on 70+ miles per week and ran about 2,000 miles in ZFs last year — and an alternative to buying every pair I can find now would be great !
