This is NOT a post about cheating. Really. But I've been a runner and fan for over 4 decades, and I STILL don't understand how someone can run a PR (or perhaps NR or WR) at any distance (over 200m) and have no sign of grimmace and not appear to be breathing hard? Happens all the time, and certainly happened yesterday with Wilson. Run as hard as you can for 2 minutes - or 27, or 2+ hours - and do it faster than you (or perhaps any other human) has ever done it, and give no sign of effort, fatigue, or breathlessness? And it's one thing when the fatigue might be masked to an extent by clear exhilaration and celebration. But when it's more of a ho-hum, I'm done with the race and not celebrating, I completely don't understand it. And please no replies that simply say, "Elites are different." That explains nothing.
