I'm waiting for him to suddenly jump about 3 miles ahead on the course when he hits the 6.9 mile mark.

Rupp appears to be ~1:14 ahead of Chelanga.

That is ~1min14sec after 3.5 miles.
Boom! 4:42 pace through 6.9 for Galen. Chelanga 2 seconds behind!
Chelanga must have surged!!!

The tracker is just really unreliable
Ben Bruce leading the 10k.
Looks like Matt Llano is with them through 7.5.

Llano was 61:52 in Houston, just 6 seconds behind Chelanga. I have not seen an elevation profile for today’s course, but saw someone mention ~350 ft of net drop. Is most of that in the final 10k? I will look on the website to try to answer my own question in addition to waiting for a reply here.
Here is a small video snippet of Rupp's lead on Chelanga:
*61:58 for Llano in Houston. Just looked at the elevation chart and the drop seems to be evenly dispersed. That would lead me to believe that Chelanga and Llano should be considerably faster than they were in Houston. In addition to the 350 ft of drop, they are a few weeks closer to their goal race. Maybe we will see some fireworks in the final 5k?!
This is the elevation profile for the half:

It’s a gentle downhill grade the entire time but the last mile looks to have some significant drop.

Thanks for posting; I did see that. Considering they are loping along at the same pace they ran last month and they have a bit steeper of a downhill for the final mile, I would think that Llano and Chelanga will be able to “turn on the jets” a bit. Hopefully Rupp too. With the seemingly conservative start, a low 61:xx would be a nice result. To get under 61:00, they would need to cover the final 10k in 28:30ish.
Here is another video snippet with all three leaders in order, Rupp, Chelanga, Llano:

Rupp has been known to practice his Marathon race tactics in tune-up races.

Galen is lucky to run 62 on a fast course.
Don’t be a dunce. He came through halfway in Chicago at 62:57 and is now much further removed from his surgery.
It appears that you are preparing to eat crow.
