Did Evan pull down the video? I watched some this morning and went to finish it and it’s gone. What gives??
He pulled it down. After some thought, it was obvious the video was very biased, due to the contributions he's received from Brooks, and not wanting to lose them. He's not a bad guy, he realized he compromised his integrity, and his conscience won out and he took it down. The right call. It would be better if he just made a truthful video, but this is fine too, at least this way he doesn't have a commercial up with deceitful advertising for Brooks.

It's still there

It was down for a day or so. I think someone up-thread mentioned a spreadsheet that isn't there now, but there is a split second where there's a frame or two where it flashes up. Probably either Styrd or Brooks asked him to take that out but he needed to leave that short bit in so that it wouldn't screw up the audio.
Man, Believe in the Run did a scathing review on this shoe.

If you trust those guys. Thomas hobbled a 4 hour marathon, and puts like 5 miles on a shoe before making a verdict. Robbie seems a little more genuine but the whole frat-bro-pseudo-badass review schtick isn’t a great one. Wait for SJD or something.

You have to look at all of the reviewers and know their biases and compare them to your own to decide what's right for you.
That said, it is one of the more harsh reviews I've ever read from them. Will be interesting to see what Roadtrailrun says.

He wrote a quick blurb about - he removed the direct comparisons (charts) until he has more scientifically-sound tests. Sounds fair to me. My major concern is still durability here - I'm sure they're fast!

Someone mentioned 50 miles... maybe they stop becoming 100% optimal after 50-100 miles, but they feel pretty darn good well beyond 50-100.. just like any other high-performance shoe. If you really want durability so you can run workouts in them, You could have two pairs... one for training where you put in ~400-500 miles on workout days/long runs. And one just for races where you limit them to 100-150 miles or so for max performance.

I was just about to post the BITR review. They roasted the Hyperion Elite! What's interesting is so far BITR is the only site saying these things. Other sites have described the shoe as simply a less cushioned (but not hard!) Vaporfly.
If it's true (harsh ride, little propulsion, 30-50 mile life) then Brooks have a huge dud. But if BITR is exaggerating for the page views, then I guess only time will tell!
Meghan was on the review though and she is pretty quick.
I would just go for the Skechers Speed Elite for a firmer plated racer over the Brooks though. It is lighter, cheaper, and Brooks already admitted that their Hyperion Tempo foam (basically Hyperburst copy) has more energy return than the one in the Elite, which is just a light EVA. $250 for a shoe with a light EVA, 50 miles of durability, and an admitted lack of energy return while being very firm sounds like a pass.

i'd put a lot more stock in Evans opinion even if the data at the end of his vid was kinda meaningless.
After reading this you have to wonder what Evan's on ?! Sounds like he might DNF at the trials ;-)

"The DNA ZERO foam has little-to-no bounce. It felt like I was stepping onto a hard memory foam mattress. On landing, my foot sunk down a little, but then it stayed there. There was no energy return whatsoever. The only time I felt a little bit of bounce in this shoe was when I was at an all-out sprint. It’s hard to believe there’s actually a carbon plate in there.
After my first run, I honestly thought I had received a muddled pair. Certainly, Brooks did not intend for the shoes to feel like this? Unfortunately, Thomas had a similar sentiment about his.
I still ran the advertised life of this shoe– close to 30 miles, including a long run with 7 middle miles at marathon pace, and none of my opinions changed.
The silver lining — you can get a lot more than 30 miles out of this shoe, that firm midsole isn’t going anywhere."
I hope I don't DNF! I honestly have no doubts that I'll be able to run a marathon in these. Have no idea what these other reviewers are talking about. Maybe everyone is spoiled from running in super soft shoes all the time.
Well it looks like I called it, sorry ! Seriously, hope you're ok and I'm hoping it wasn't the shoe's fault !
Hah! If I had to blame any shoe it would be the Next %. I ran houston half in them and tweaked something in my foot. Then a week later did a long run work out in them and my knee flared up. Ran barely anything from that week up until the trials and was hoping for the best!
The Hyperion elite we’re still an okay option. Pretty firm, but still the faster I run in them the better they feel. Wasn’t my day, but I’m interested to see the newer version of the Hyperion Elite apparently coming out now at the end of April....
