I also quit drinking after NYE.
It is hard, but I have tried to avoid the crowded loud bar scene. 20% of the time I can handle this sober because of natural energy, 80% I can’t and I’m the past this is when I would drink 15 drinks to cope with it.
The key is to not bring attention to your non drinking. Just get a Coca Cola or something like that.
You gotta find interests that don’t revolve around drinking too. I am into techno raves. So drinking there is a side show, if even that. It takes me longer to “get into it” but once I am dancing hard it feels the same if not even better, and nobody notices.
The thing is that alcohol used to cover up this anxiety, subconscious issues, your boredom with socializing and life. You now have to face this head on. Let yourself be bored. Your mind will be clean and you will learn more about yourself and what you truly want out of socializing and out of life.
