I did a solid workout last Thursday, but near the end l could feel a very small amount of pain in my calf, nothing to bad. On Saturday l did a hill workout and again no real pain, but l could still feel the small amount of soreness. I have been stretching the calf before every run as well. If l don't do the session, it will just be a double today. I have been doing a lot of hard sessions this past month. When do you know the right time to postpone a session a few days? The session is 5 x1k
When you do a new lifting workout you get sore. You're fine to do a workout on that. Now are you on the verge of injury, like you have some pretty bad tendon inflammation? You need to know the difference. Don't do a workout on something like that.

It's about a 25% sore tendon. I can feel it, but it's not bad yet, but after the session it might be another story. Can you still run easy till Saturday?
What is with the 5x 1k workouts everywhere? Seems short.
Yeah, you can workout on a sore calf easily.
You may want to let a tear heal.
If it's not to the point of throwing off your form you're probably ok to train through it, but if it really is bothering you there's never a bad time to cross train for a day or two.
I actually had two different calf issues over the years during race weeks. I went for bike rides, delayed the workout until I felt at least 90%, and both races went really well.
If you do the workout, put some small lift under the heel. This will raise it slightly and take some pressure off of the tendon. Whatever you use, do the same on the other side to keep things even. It does not have to be much, just a few millimeters. Don't continue this for more than a few days. Over time, the tendons & muscles can functionally shorten. Also, ice afterward, pain or not as a precaution to the soreness you are feeling.
