I'm a junior in hs and I've played soccer for most of my life and have been playing on my high school team as well. However, track season is the same time as soccer, so I can't do both. I've done xc for all three years of my hs career, here are my pr's:
-Freshman: N/A due to injury (but 2 mi. time trial @6:06 mile pace)
The summer before junior year I decided that I had an appreciation for the sport and took training more seriously. I averaged around 30(?)-40 mpw over the summer(I really started running around the end of April) and during the season only ran at practice and had a longrun or similar workout on Sundays. I did this all while playing year-round soccer.
This year, I got back into a training schedule right after christmas, but have been running a little interspersed between my last xc race and then. Not super organized at first, but enough to keep me in shape.
I think that I'm going to do soccer again this season instead of join the track team. HOWEVER I do plan on racing unattached in maybe the 800, 1600, and 3200 (and/or 3k). I haven't run on a track team since elementary school lol.
Should I do soccer and race at some meets unattached? Or throw some ideas at me.
