Yes, like previous posters, eccentric exercises help (at least in my experience they did). Hamstring curls, deadlifts are also helpful in getting the muscle and tendon complex back in sync.
There is this funky exercise you do on a treadmill, can’t remember the technique exactly, you can find it googling. Basically the treadmill is set at like a fast walk, you stand backwards, one foot off the track, and then with the effected leg, move with the treadmill while pushing against the movement. It’s like the ultimate eccentric release.
Dry needling also helped, if you can find a physical therapist who knows what he/she is doing.
