Starliper and Walters join Kelsey Chmiel at NC State - does this make their team a legit national title contender for XC?

They placed 10/17/39/49/75 for 190 points this year, with 2-5 returning. Assume Sraliper and Walters would place around 20 that reduces their score to about 145. If they could get Tuohy and she could place 10th that gets them down to about 105 which would have been right in it (Arkansas and BYU were 96 and 102). Otherwise one of their runners would have to improve a lot.
Dude Ewert is the only girl who did better at nxn
And that's not only this year that's the past several years
Every other girl did way better at Foot Locker
And not even like close most were twice as high at Foot Locker
Heart was 50th at nxn and 4th at Foot Locker
Taylor ewert can easily be explained that she gave a big effort at nxn and was tired
The fact that every other girl for the past several years has done way better at the second race shows that the first one is tougher
Logic would make you think that the first race they would do better than they would be tired
And it's not even close it's a bigley difference
We're talking major bigley differences

i would say in 2 yrs definately
Where is Katelynn Hart?
She was somewhere around 13 or 14
4th at Foot Locker but 50th at nxn and she was second 4th at regionals so kind of makes sense she's somewhere around 14
dumb, they should have gone with 1a-1z

Yeah it was funny
They made it real clear that they were both equal as number one
But then they ranked em 1A and 1B
If you want to make it equal why not just put a number one in front of both of them
In a dyestat response they even clearly said that no one is above anyone else with Dudek and Tuohy.
Yeah but I think they were obviously just going for the attention because why else would you put the undefeated girl second and give her 1B
I guess they were just looking to stir the pot. Stirring the Melting Pot as Michael Scott Wood say

Tuohy doesn't even deserve a 1b, she took a loss by default by not being at the individual championship, the only race that matters. In truth, it would be kind to give a 3b or 4b, because that's about where she'd have placed at Footlocker.

All 3 are girls from the NE and 2 from schools that traditionally struggle to improve after HS. Chmiel did well this year, but likely is lucky to just stay the same, hard to think any of them will improve. But they might not need to. I'd be surprised if Walters is ever on varsity at NC State and assume that they will all regress unfortunately.
This will be interesting to keep an eye on. There is also Schulz from Liverpool who was top 15 at NXN. All these ladies are friends, and there appears to be good coaching and support team in place now at NC State. There is even depth below the current top 7 at NCAA's, so should be a good training environment. With a solid chance to be on the podium, or even win NCAA's, the team vibe should also be great. Given all these positives, I'll be hoping that Walters has a successful career there.
Vanderkooi should be #4 ahead of Ewert.
At FLMW she beat Ewert and Dudek.
At FLN she beat Ewert by 21 seconds.
Top 10 all time on the FLN course.
By the way that FLMW course was muddy. She would have beat Ewert at NXN too (and Tuohy).
The purpose of Regionals is not to win but to qualify for nationals. With this in mind, Dudek achieved that goal admirably. Maybe she did not see the need to put a 100 percent effort in so to win.
Vanderkool was not a real factor at Footlocker Nationals so maybe she could have held back a bit at Regionals. She has time on her side though.
I think Ewert said she in an interview that is more of a strength runner which plays better for Portland over San Diego, other things being equal. Her rw and steeple background definitely give her power trudging through mud and uneven terrain.
Is Vanderkooi a shoo in for #1 next year?
LOL.
Walters will be on varsity. She's a 4:45 1600 meter Runner
She just improve this year a cross-country
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
