what is the threshold for Male/Female 18-34 to wear next% in a marathon that doesnt scream 'trying too hard'.

Don’t care as long as they don’t wear them casually. Real runners don’t wear the shoes they race or train in around casually with jeans
It’s a marathon, you should be trying hard.
If your racing for time, feel free to wear them
If you are trying to finish, don’t bother
That’s said, if you want to be a real runner, then you are going to want to wear real shoes (not trampolines)*
*unless you are racing for an otq or to win the marathon
Anyone slower than OTQ levels must quit running or at least racing NOW. This is letsrun and we must have quality control. There should be some laws in the books to keep slow hobby runners (2:22 marathon for men, 2:50 for women) of the streets. This is a righteous nation and we must keep it so.
Why should slower runners be required to wear inferior shoes? If they're already losing the race they shouldn't have to disadvantage themselves even more. Furthermore, wearing a shoe has nothing to do with "trying hard" because you try equally hard regardless of the shoe you're wearing. Using the best shoe available is just a logical choice to maximize performance with no additional effort.
I don't see a problem with wearing vaporflies at whatever pace unless you intend to walk significant portions of the marathon. They only improve running economy and are not particularly comfortable to walk in, so if you are doing a run walk marathon there are probably better choices. Otherwise, what does it matter?
Who cares, people should just do what they want.
The shoes designed for those who at least decent form, aka paw and kick.. so the shoes probably dont help heel striking 4 hour jogger

The Vaporflys are ideal for heel strikers.
My Christmas gift to myself are Vaporfly 4% and my best 5k last year was 26:08.
?
I won't buy Nike anything because of their politics.....but even if I did - at 60 years old in the 3:50 corral I'd probably feel foolish anyway.
Should that guy be running? wrote:

this.
Has anyone tried the Vaporflys who over pronates? Normally wear Brooks GTS for my training (and ran a 2:49 marathon in them too).
Hoping the Vaporflys may take me under 2:45 but not sure my feet will take it
I am wondering if I should break-in my Christmas gift a couple of days early. I have a two mile race and should be able to run around 16:00. At that effort with the 4% should I really expect to run 15:23?
guys running over 4 hrs... you dont need them. wrote:

Anyone wearing them that's not getting paid to wear them is trying too hard to gain a phony result.

All the carbon fiber and foam in the world won't help your stride bro.
Yep, and they're fine. I even train in custom made orthotics and still didn't have any problems racing in them.
still not sure? wrote:

Do you race in the orthotics also or take them out?
For this mb having a perceived conservative slant, the quantity of these posts saying people should or shouldn’t be able to wear certain shoes or clothes is really quite remarkable. Ditto the posts saying who should be allowed to take up certain hobbies. Aren’t we free to dress and do as we please?
