I can relate from personal experience somewhat as well--in college I had similar PRs to Touhy now--58 400 m, 4:33 indoor mile, and 26:25 8 K cross country. I considered myself to be a strength runner an always did better compared to my peers in cross country versus track. However, I was limited in being able to qualify for nationals because I was not able to break 2 for 800 or 4 for 1500 at the time.
