As he just decided to move back to the 10000, Cheptegei clocks 26:38 on road, showing who da boss is.
Then to add insult to injury, Mo's European marathon record gets demolished, by nearly a minute, also in Valencia.
Perhaps it's a sign ....

I can only think of two famous big time athletes who retired on top, Jim Brown and Barry Sanders. Brown was filming movie Dirty Dozen. Original Cleveland Browns were fining him daily for missing training camp. Brown told Browns if you're going to fine me, I retire. Barry Sanders preferred to participate in a spread offense: four receivers and Sanders as only running back. Sanders was told going forward, Lions were going to use a fullback. Sanders, retired. Steve Ovett, Michael Jordan, Shaquille O'Neal, Johnny Unitas, Fran Tarkenton, Joe Namath, Bill Rodgers, Frank Shorter. Most greats stick around too long.
What about El G?

Mo yesterday: I’m running for 10k gold
***Cheptegei has entered the chat***
Farah is just another classic narcissist running scared, frantically looking for some way not to be forgotten. Going to end in tears.
Does Farah have any Euro records left?

el G retiring at age 30 or so was strange. Was el G training through injuries in 2004? If not, his retirement was unusual. As I stated, when Jim Brown and Barry Sanders retired, they had reasons. Mohammad Farah's situation is more similar to Miruts Yifter's situation. Yifter was most likely 38 when he won Olympic gold. There was no downside for Yifter launching a T&F comeback. Yifter felt Viren was walking around with Yifter's 1972 Olympics 5000m gold medal. Also, nine months in prison, no doubt pissed off Yifter. Five-thousand metres in Yifter's opinion was his best event. Historians at some point will have more insight into el G's early retirement.

Was it strange? What else could El G have accomplished? His resume is almost perfect.
World Records at 1500, mile, 2k
Olympic double 1500/5k Gold
World Championship Gold
The only things missing on his resume:
Footlocker win
National High School Mile WR
D1 XC Natty Win
NCAA Titles/Records
‘Thon NR/PR

el G, retired to do what at about age 30? el G retiring was not like U.S. 100m dash sprinters retiring from T&F from 1930 to 1980 to attempt to be a N.F.L. receiver. If runners from 1950s to 1970s could have made money participating in T&F while also remaining Olympic eligible, runners would not have stopped at two gold medals.

Or it's going to end in an interview with Oprah.

THIS!!! It's a Lance scenario all over again. His ego can't take it to be yesterday's news. Right in the middle of the whole Alberto saga no less! He better cover his tracks well because they are coming for him!
Totally agree. Guys like Lance and Mo just can’t help themselves. The likelihood he cheated is very high. A normal Joe could walk away, but Mo ant stand the thought of someone else being at the top. Mo probably has borderline personality disorder. Conflict and scandal follow him every where he goes. Five years from now he will be making his rounds on podcasts, network tv, etc. pleading his case that he had no choice to cheat because everyone was doing it.
The sport would be better off if he would just go away.
the last time mo ran a 10k, he won a world championship, with one of his fastest world championship times. this is something he has been thinking about since early this year. he was very close to participating in doha. nobody ever took his crown from him. he still feels like he is pretty fast. no reason for him to step down without testing himself one more time.
For Mo it's all about the dollars and pounds as Tania Kitten and family are very high maintenance, especially Tania Kitten, she wants only the best and blingiest for herself.

Seb Coe doing the Sydney Olympics commentary on TV said he would put his house on El G winning gold in the 1500, guess what...
Show me the dollars and pounds. wrote:

Looks like quite the crew. Look at those entitled faces.
Mo Farah has found a dead end:
- He is getting bullied in the marathon and dropping in the world rankins, the only athlete to not improve his times in this Vaporflys years
- a new strong generation of track runner has emerged, which give him little hope to perform at 35+ on track. Cheptegai , Kejelcha look too strong against him in the 10k and the 5k look hopeless with Edriss, Barega and the others.
- The only coach who made him successful at age 28 and after had been banned for doping violations
- He is getting suspected and interrogated by his own english media and has been getting into fight in Ethiopia.
Thread of the week easily, needs to be linked to the front page brojos
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Guys between age of 45 and 55 do you think about death or does it seem far away
