When I think Gen X, I think people young enough to know how to use excel and touch screen drink dispensers, old enough to have never liked Pokemon or the Star Wars prequels.

as a millennial, i want to say that these generational wars are stupid

The internet creation was all baby boomer. Arpanet was established in 1969. The Xers were 4 yrs old. Jeff Besos and Gates are baby boomers.
The generation X is competent, but they ride on the backs of the boomers.
The sad part for the Xers, is that the boomers who have very limited technological skills are promoting millennials over generation X because of their superior technological knowledge .
However, many millennials without the superior technological knowledge are not doing well. But they still are a political and cultural force.
By the way, everyone knows the 80s and the 90's had horrible music.
It would be difficult to find another post that is more inaccurate than this one.

Everyone has to pick their team though. Just like voting for president!
My oh my. Don't ya just love it when people stereotype and write off or denigrate entire generations?
Media fucking LOVES to paint the generations at war among themselves. It's good for business. Gets everyone ratcheted up and watching the news, posting accusations and retorts on Youtube, tweeting stupidities like #okboomer and #avacadotoast, pointing fingers at each other. "You ruined my chances for a life!" "Oh yeah, well you're a whiney little snowflake!" "As for you Xers, what did you ever contribute? You should be ashamed for squandering your chance!"
Life is far more complex and nuanced. I'm hoping we've hit bottom in terms of polarization, so that it can only go up from here.

They have no identity and no political influence (as a generation). No one cares what Generation X thinks about. They live in the shadow of the Baby Boomers and have seen the Millennials over take them. As far as music, culture, or politics they have made little impact. The Baby Boomers somehow either spoiled or weakened them. The Millennials are very different.

Just talking about generational averages not individuals.
There is no war between the generations and that's how it should be. Because if we were at war Generation X would lose badly.
okay but did you google mayor of lannanch
There is a very good chance that this country will NEVER see a president from Generation X.
Who would want to be president.? All the geniuses don’t. The politicians are all self centered idiots that can’t get past bi-partisanship. Anyone who is smart know the’ll just be hounded by the other party until they are disfunctional. Just like the majority of all families now days—disfunctional to the extreme, only caring about themselves.

What about the grunge movement? Nirvana, Alice in Chains etc. Eminem. Arcade Fire etc?
You mean suicide rock? Everytime I hear that music I start looking up rope.

What rock do you live under? The 90s were the 90s because of Gen X. We've made little impact on music, culture or politics? Remove the smegma that is disastrously clouding your understanding.
https://ibb.co/p1gbQpYDear boomers, dear millennials,
Please continue your silly internet feud and stay out of our hair while we cement our alliance with Gen Z and continue to change the world.
Sincerely,
Gen X
Spent too much time wandering the streets of NYC looking for coke to dispel the anomie that gripped us.
Gen X is the last generation to have created high quality music.

The boomers control the establishment. The generation X are wannabes. They long for what the boomers have but they are losing. But The millenials are changing the game.
The millenials rule technology in a way that generation X can't even imagine. The millenials are not only the future but the present.
Oh dear. Another millennial who can't come to grips with being surpassed in relevance by Gen Z.
Must be pretty rough. At least Gen X-ers came of age with low expectations, so they just shrugged, turned up the Pearl Jam, and got on with things. Millennials were always told that they would be a significant, impactful cohort, and now they'll just be remembered for wasting time on social media.
Oh well.

Did you read your links and look who is in the picture. Your first link documents that generation X is most frequently over looked for promotion and advancement.
Generation X based on their age, they should be at their peak in controlling things. They are not. They make great assistants not leaders. They can't multitask as well as millennials and actually are distracted more by social media (This was in your link). They just weren't prepared to learn to cope with the distraction.
Lol, I had no idea there was a fued. I’ve seen #okboomer a few times but didn’t know what it refers too. I didn’t know ’Baby Boomer’ or ‘Gen X’ actually had time markers. Isn’t there a ‘Gen Y’ too? I was born in ‘93. Am I a millennial or ‘Gen Y’ or something else? I’ve just assumed millennial meant born in the 2000s.
No one needs to answer these questions.. I don’t really care... I didn’t even read the article. I’m not against stereotypes as sometimes they are an efficient short-cut to conclusions (unless evidence shows the stereotype is wrong). But stereotyping solely based on what year you are born in seems pretty dumb.. I guess people of the same generation have some similarities... but not enough to all be lumped together.
It’s funny how a country always complaining about a lack of equality and unity (and blaming the government, the ‘system’, ‘police’ etc) is constantly making up stupid categories to separate people into. It’s more amazing we don’t laugh at ourselves more. Seriously, humans are smart, yet so illogical at the same time. Most of us are walking ironies- constantly contradicting ourselves. Can’t we just all laugh about it together instead of keyboard fighting lol.
Gen Y = Millenial. They changed the name at some point
