Uh...black folks voted for Pete over a black democrat, Henry Davis Jr.
You folks kill me with your BS lies.
https://southbendvoice.com/2015/05/05/buttigieg-defeats-henry-davis-jr-in-south-bend-mayoral-primary/If Mayor Pete wins the Iowa caucuses and continues to rise the NH polls, he will come to the attention of a lot of people who are not familiar with him. He is already raising a lot of money for his campaign. Many years ago gays were mostly closeted. Now most people don’t think much of it because if they take a closer look at their own family, they might be surprised (or not) at the fact there is probably a gay relation somewhere. It remains for him to be able to resonate with voters over a wide geographical area.
First, Mayor Pete is getting propped up by the media as part of how they churn candidates to try to get better ratings in the presidential race. The media does not want to do pieces analyzing different policy proposal. They just want the horse race. And the most exciting horse race is one where the lead changes constantly. The media tries desperately to make lead changes happen by pumping and dumping candidates. First it was Harris. She had a great moment in the first debate. But then she got dumped when she unveiled a bunch of hypertechnical policy proposals that were indecipherable to the media. Then, it was Biden entering the race. He then got dumped when he was generally terrible in debates and his son got swept up in the Ukraine impeachment. Then it was Warren's turn. She got dumped when she was pressed on middle class taxes for health care. Now, it is Mayor Pete's turn. There are outlier polls showing him getting a big bump and the media seized on them to try to pump him up. There are already stories coming out to get him dumped. He has thoroughly botched an outreach program to African American voters in South Carolina. African American voters told his focus groups that they did not support him because he is gay. His staffers then leaked that to the press.
Mayor Pete is a very good speaker and that has helped him separate himself from the other moderates. He has been able to leverage his days at McKinsey to get him on the payroll of some of the big Dem donors who are looking for an alternative to Bernie/Warren.
But Mayor Pete has no chance. He is basically where Herman Cain was during the Republican primary. Cain was the flavor of the day and got big bumps in the polls about this time in 2015. But once people actually started voting, Cain disappeared quickly. Mayor Pete does have a big problem with African American voters and has no chance at winning anyone over from Warren/Bernie. And the Mayor Pete dance is horrific

In the betting markets, Mayor Pete is 3rd for the Democratic nomination just behind Biden but ahead of Sanders.
So in these betting markets if Mayor Pete is third and is just behind Biden, who is ahead of Biden?
Warren.
Honestly it is really hard to see any of these people as president. Where is that nice bland 45-65 year old governor who just gets stuff done? Granted the bar these days is pretty low these days. And maybe the time is passed when we can actually get things done for more than the brief periods when one party has total control

From the start of D.N.C. campaign season, there have been numerous centrists. Butt ... and Biden are the only two centrists in top four. Butt ... is in top four because he has billionaire backers. He does not have to worry about raising money. He can run commercials as if he's a self-funded billionaire. There is no stress with paying campaign workers for Butt ... . Stop with the gay stuff. If Butt ... were not gay, he'd be down there at (1 to 3)% in polls with the other centrists.

Yeah, I live in Indiana. Mourdock cost himself the election with that remark. Mourdock beat Richard Lugar, a moderate R, in the primary. Without the rape comment, he'd be comfortably in his second term.

OK.
And the Alabama GOP senate opponent was Roy Moore, who was an alleged pedophile.
When the Democrats win the presidency next year people will talk about the awful GOP candidate then.
Fast forward 7 years and that 's the standard republican position.

I was very skeptical of his candidacy initially, but when you listen to him, he is pretty impressive. His biggest barrier to winning either the nomination or, if nominated, the Presidency is his lack of support from persons of color. We'll see if he can overcome that.
yep. he has turned out to be the most well-spoken of the bunch. he is also educated and will likely hire smart people on his staff. After the last 3 years, that would be a welcome relief.

I hear what you are saying but the media isn't that coordinated to do all of that.
The media consists of sources from all over the place.
The media reacts to what people tune into.

Of course you should be skeptical. Democrats in U.S. only have (55 to 60)% non-Latin whites. The billionaires like Bill Gates may love him. Buttigieg (sp) is the slightly left of center billionaires favorite. This will not last.
The bad thing about politicians is they're politicians.
In Mayor Pete's favor, he's less of one than most.
In my hometown, a wealthy developer sought land rezoning which would make him wealthier still. When denied, he ran for public office, and given his resources was easily elected. Then he promptly obtained his rezoning.
American politics is this, on a grand scale.
There are over 12,000 registered lobbyists in DC, not including "analysts" for privately-funded think tanks, campaign donors and other influencers seeking reward.
Every few years, the American Corptocracy suckers the middle class into choosing between two autocratic figureheads they appoint. This is American "democracy".
Mayor Pete is a really odd candidate. He seems to be liked by people who would be republicans if they weren't so turned off by them. But then he also has a branch of liberals who think that he is the example for what real diversity looks like, ignoring all of his policy ideas. Both groups are entirely white, which fortunately means he won't gain traction even if he does well in Iowa + NH. I would still expect Bernie/Warren to beat him there. Nevada will be interesting. & then Joe will start doing his thing in the south. Gotta hope Bernie/Warren can win enough states to take Biden out of contention. Pete will be a distant 4th or 5th.

Hey moron, if Mayor Pete is so beloved by black voters why is he polling at zero-2% amongst black voters in South Carolina, and less than 2% nationally?
https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2019/11/18/most-important-question-pete-buttigieg-isnt-what-happens-iowa/Why is he making up endorsements for his plan for African Americans?
https://theintercept.com/2019/11/15/pete-buttigieg-campaign-black-voters/The whole point of this thread is that only 8000 people voted for Pete, in a town or 100000. Say 70000 are voting age, only 11% of voters voted Pete. Literally every African American could have stayed at home and he could still have comfortably hit 8000.
He is a gentrifier who tore down the homes of low income black home owners, using loopholes in the building code to frame the houses as ‘abandoned’ and replaced them with luxury housing, and framed it as a positive!!!
www.buzzfeednews.com/amphtml/henrygomez/mayor-pete-buttigieg-south-bend-gentrificationHe sacked a black police chief without trial after finding out the chief had been secretly recording racists within south bend police, but when a white police officer killed an unarmed black man he decided that it was best for the police to sort it out amongst themselves.

What is the relevance of the “only in America” claim?
Well arguably he should have more black support based upon his actual policy proposals, but instead minority voters are flocking to the guy that help create (along with Hillary) the criminal justice system that has imprisoned more blacks than were ever slaves. For god knows what reason...
