What's going on at North Georgia? Looks like a solid DII program...women only. Do they hire a female for that position? Or get the best available candidate for the job?

It pays $20k. Good luck finding anyone competent enough to work for that little. Cost of living in that vacation town is high.
Where did you see they picked someone?

Wow! Where is the salary posted? That seems very little pay for a head xc/tf job at the DII level.
There is no way the North GA job pays $20k a year! No way! That is a head coaching job at a large NCAA DII school. Stop being stupid.
Anyone know what the time frame is on them narrowing down their candidates and starting interviews?
There are already schools facing a hiring freeze and there will be more schools who are placed into a hiring freeze within the next few days and weeks. So, if an assistant leaves the HC will not be permitted to replace them. This is fact. HC's who want to make a change will be reluctant to fire someone until their school comes out of this COVID madness knowing they cannot replace the ass't.
Some folks on here do not realize how this virus is impacting universities across the nation. The NCAA payout is only going to be around 60% for the coming year. Outside of a few athletics departments across the country who actually operated on a financial surplus last year, the budget issue is real and it's going to get rough on travel budgets and hiring very soon. FACT.
There's a lag time of +4 weeks. So, expect to see the hiring freeze in the next couple weeks. The budget issue will lag into late July and most outside of college athletics will not even know how budgets were impacted at a school until you see their xc, indoor and outdoor schedules and wonder why they are not traveling. How will most programs function under a 25-35% budget reduction?
FY 2019 the HC was paid 20K at North Georgia according to Open Georgia Government records. Oddly, the coach was labeled as “temporarily professional” whereas the other HC’s at North Georgia were labeled “Coach” in the open records. If the position has been moved to F/T Coach it may then pay in the 50K range comparable to what the other coaches at North Georgia are being paid not including baseball, M&W basketball and 10K less than soccer (low 60’s) Regardless, North Georgia was getting a bargain as it appears the HC did a real good job based on roster size and results - probably would still be there they paid him what he was worth? No knowledge of that just an assumption
Umass has not filled the position yet. They are doing second round of interviews this week. Online interviews with other coaches in the department. Next week interviews with athletes.
Why are we wasting all this energy figuring out the salary of some low-level D-2 college in backwards Georgia?
The country will not open back up again anytime soon! If we do that and start back to normal and fill stadiums with fans it will get as bad and worse than it has been! It's common sense.

We have been simply delaying the inevitable.. buying time for treatments and vaccines to be made, so hospitals won’t be overpacked. You can open the country tomorrow or 2 months from now their will still be a spike in infections, but at least the longer we wait, the better prepared we can be.
RR leaving Mizzou?
If RR was leaving Mizzou, it wouldn't be the first time he left a school... Where might he be going?
Wasn't this posted earlier in the year? Did something fall through?

If you are not interested in applying for a low level D2 program that is fine. Just keep your comments to yourself. There are plenty of people on here at different experience levels and ages and a wide range of jobs they are interested in. NAIA, JUCCO, DI-DIII. North GA is actually a pretty good women's distance program relative to the conference and region they are in! This is a place to talk about coaching jobs not for those that think DI is the only thing worthy!
Former head coach left after xc, and an assistant was made interim. Apparently the AD was serious about actually conducting a search in the summer.
