Met their coaching staff and some of their kids when they came to the Manhattan Invite a couple years ago. They ran Eastern states. Prayers up to all of them. They have a very good program.
Prayers going out to this school and Rene’s team.

Do we think he was bummed in xc/track ? His times r not very fast
He commented on some of his times... Pretty scary what he said... Ngl, people should have seen this a mile away...

He got a little bit slower each season from his freshman to junior year. Clearly suffering from something, likely very depressed and reportedly lost his dad when a drunk driver crashed into him last year. It's a tragedy all around.
Could have been prior to him dying of alcoholism.
This rarely happens in Canada. One happened in Taber, Alberta about 20 years ago.
We don't have as many guns in Canada.
The comments he made on his profile of athletic.net are sad, tearing up a bit, best wishes to everyone affected :/
Comment left on one of his races: "I did terrible on this one and all the kids laughed at me :("
It makes me sad that he was excluded by his team and didn't have the proper support to deal with his mental health problems.

Keep in mind even one kid laughing, possibly not even at the runner but in a separate conversation that was misinterpreted could be enough for a depressed kid to feel like "all the kids" were laughing at him. I've had interactions with Rene and his team and have never seen anything but positivity.
True, though it clearly shows he didn't feel included. I Just wish it could have ended differently.

Yep. When you hear this kind of talk, you never know how much is reality and how much is just the kid's perception.
Kids frequently think that "everyone" is making fun of them when the reality is that no one is even thinking about them at all.

His dad died from a heart attack. And yes was an avid hunter so owned a lot of guns.
Their girls team was ranked 8th in the country in the beginning of the season before falling back. Dark horses for NXN. Their boys team is respectable as well. Someone ran sub 15 early on. Wonder what the team culture was like since they are pretty good and if that had any effect.

No excuses.....he's now roasting in Hell.

You don't have as many people or as many crazy people.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
