Kitata wins, IMHO.
Kitata wins, IMHO.
Yes I do know. He is no Kipchoge. Many runners run sub 59 for half and fail to transfer that ability to the full distance. Half marathon ability doesn’t say a thing about the full distance
Kam wins by a full minute, no problem, if he goes early and doesn't wait until 35k or so.
Definitely has a 2:04 in him, on the NYC course.
HOT TAKE -> 3rd American will be Lou Serafini. Take it to the bank
Men
1. Kamworor
2. Desisa
3. Kitata
Women
1. Keitany
2. Aga
3. Jepkosgei

The 2019 NYC field isn't deep - onlly 4 men with a pb under 2:08 - but it's very strong up front. With great weather in the forecast and the new shoes, will the course record also go down?
How will Jared Ward do?
If Jared Ward is hoping to podium, then he won't succeed. However, if he gets into the mix and races with the leaders and pushes himself and takes some uncharacteristically Jared-like risks, it will be a valuable experience for the trials and the possibly the Olympics.

What are your predictions for men's and women's podium?

Kitata, desisa, tola.
Keitany, Aga, kiprop.
After the press conference, I may have some friends join the kitata camp.

You do know that he's won New York before, right?
Probably not. You're forgetting where you're at.

Desisa wasn't to optimistic on the press conference. Now I think he will be out of podium.
1. Kamworor
2. Kitata
3. Tola
Ahhh, Cathal Dennehy writing the IAAF preview, said Kamworor was runner-up last year. Oops.
People were saying Mutai's course record was, adjusting for the difficulty of NYC, a world record quality run. He was hot off Boston and had a Kipchoge-like belief in himself. No one will be breaking that record this weekend, believe me. Not Kam (Tedese 2.0) and certainly not Desisa (pr of 2:04-high).
Kam FTW. Lessons learned from last year.
I think it will be between Kam and Kitata. Hope it's a good one.

I'll take idiotic statements for $600, Alex.
There are talks of Kam, Kitata and Tola going out in 62' flat. It's crazy fast, almost silly. Kam must feel in 2:02-low shape now on a faster course like Berlin.
Kamworor with this shape is the next candidate to break marathon world record. The Cophenagen half marathon world record was insane and is just a matter of time that in the right race with pacers he will break Kipchoge record. So he is number one favourite for 2019 NYC Marathon
.... And if they go out really fast is possible that on sunday Kamworor will win with a great time
Kitata trains with and is simply in better shape than Desisa...and also not coming back from Doha.
Kamworor is clearly in great shape and CAN translate his HM fitness to the full. It's no guarantee, but coming from the Sang/Kipchoge camp, I have to think he's ready.
Somehow I am still leaning towards Kitata. I am confident that Desisa will not finish higher than third.

why you always put men's preview up b4 women's???
Safe the best for last ;)
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
