Yes Lasitskene won her 3rd straight HJ world title and won 22 of 24 competitions, clearing 2.0m 18 times but I'd have thought it would have gone to Hassan.
What do you think?
Warholm won the men's award as would be expected.

Chalk it up to suspicion about Hassan’s performances.
That, and being a European Athlete.
Hassans coach was just banned so no she should not have won it.

I've seen dozens and dozens of competitions Lasitskene has done (and always seems to win), and I did not recognize her in these pictures, where she seems to have the semblance of a smile. She picks up gold medals like she is taking out the garbage.
Why is "crowned" the operative word?
If a track athlete, Hassan or maybe Asher-Smith, if a field athlete it should have been Mihambo. 7,30 was the best mark in years and she dominated her event as much as Lasitskene did in the past season. And of course the latter had already several well-deserved AoY crowns.
Hassan is also getting tepid support in the social media votes for IAAF athlete of the year. Tarnished by Salazar.
It looks like racism, and it's going to look even worse if Hassan takes out the HM record.
because it's a slav. the 'doping scandal' being made to create the narrative about how they 'changed' and are clean. in lasistkienė's case, she's supposed to be taken as 'never doped at all' cause noone 'caught' her. haaa-hahahhh
this doped up robot drew with an 18 year old. even in the high jump ukrainian mahuchikh is the one- not only did she achieve the same result (204 cm) , but for her it was a massive pr, in her most important meet ever, and she's obviously the future so...
but obviously sifan hassan or malaika mihambo are still above the rest
Lasitskene is an incredible high jumper. She wants to improve and not only win (yes, we all know she could smile a bit more), and she's loud against Russian dopers. She's the only Russian elite athlete who admits things do not change as fast as they should.
On the other hand, 2019 was a sub-par year for her. She lost 2 times and did not attempt the world record. I hope 2020 will be better for her.
That being said, Hassan had a better year. No question.

^This.
One gets to shortlist based purely on results, but tgen:
The Golden Tracks voting procedure takes into account fan voting across social media, media voting, European Athletics Member Federations voting as well as the expert European Athletics Panel vote. Each component accounts for 25 percent of the voting process.
So, yio can say, she won because, in addition to outstanding results and in spite all anti Russian propaganda, people actually like her.
Based on results only:
Mariya Lasitskene's season-in-brief
-European indoor high jump champion
-World champion
-Diamond League champion
-World Military Games champion
-World leader at 2.06m
-Won 22 of her 24 competitions
-Cleared 2.00m or higher in 18 competitions.
If nothing else mattrred, Mihambo and Hassan did not win EU chamoionship this year.
Regarding racist BS, you do not have to go too far to see how large BS it is:
Last year's winner was Great Britain's Dina Asher-Smith who won three gold medals at the European Championships in Berlin.
Checking the list of all winners since 1993 is even more revealing.

Must have been the Russian trollbot accounts vote manipulating on Twitter that gave the victory.

Why is crap like this allowed? She’s the female ATHLETE OF THE YEAR and the first post is about her physical appearance?

More likely FaceBook.
