Do official visits and offers go hand in hand? At the end of the visit does the coach meet with me and make me any offer? Do I need to accept on the spot? What if I applied but haven't heard back from the admission people yet? Thank you.

No. Most track athletes receive no scholarship. The offer is merely the opportunity to be part of the team. If you do receive an offer, the coach will probably give you a few days but it is not binding unless in writing during the signing period.

I would not expect an offer until after the official visit and it may be days or weeks later. The coaches may want to meet with team and each other before deciding whether or not to make an offered and if so, how much. They will likely say they want to discuss with current team members whether or not the team members think you will be a good fit for the team. If you line up your official visits within a few weeks of one another then the coaches may allow you to complete your visits before any deadline to accept. Some may want you to complete all official visits before they provide an offer. An in-state coach and assistant came to our house after the official visit to present the offer to us. They hoped for an answer by the end of the in home visit but were willing for a competing offer to come in from another school that my daughter has just visited just days before.
Is money important in your decision, or can your family afford all of your choices without scholarship?
You only have 5 visits. If money is important you should ask for your offer BEFORE you visit. No sense in waisting a visit if you need money and they want you to walk on.
All of your questions are good questions, but you and your family should have been asking them if the coaches recruiting you all along, so you have answers BEFORE you accept an official visit.
Times? We can provide guidelines if you indicate what type of schools you are considering.
At the end of the meeting just ask so am I skolly up.
Most D1 only get around a qtr skoll so plan accordingly. If you go d2 you could easier get all-american if you fast enough.
So long as they offer you something or they aren't interested
First of all every coach and program is different so don't make any broad brush assumptions based what does or does not happen during an Official Visit. An OV means they are investing in you, financially to get you to their campus and in terms of time getting to know you. It doesn't absolutely mean an offer is coming but it is a good sign to be invited for an OV. Many coaches want some feedback from other assistants and the team members who host you before making an offer. This might occur before or after you leave campus.
We had several make offers while on an OV or during an unofficial visit. Several others made them soon after a visit, some made them before a visit. Not a single coach expected an immediate answer, all said to think about it and get back to them. A few set a deadline a few weeks out, others did not. A couple said they make the offers and when they fill up their slots they are done - but this was suspect.
You need to educate yourself on where you realistically stack up for the school you are visiting. If you are reaching and are
outside of times needed to score in their conference, you need to know that. And if you are a potential high point scorer in their conference you need to understand the possible value you to bring to them.
Coaches have some sway in admissions but they also know their limits. Discuss that openly with the coach so you know what is likely.

Don't listen to anyone on here, just ask the coach on the visit if there is any scholarship opportunities.
Have your 'rents get in touch with Rick Singer. He can get you in anywhere.
Most official visits result in an offer to walk-on. Few male distance runners earn scholarships.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
