This post is not to slam or talk bad about Jonathon Riley. This is simply a post to try to better understand his lack of better progress because I am very curious about his case and since I am still a relatively young coach, I guess you can say that I'm not experienced enough to understand.
Jonathon Riley ran 3:43 1500 and 4:01 mile as a 18 year old. Now only 26, which is still very young, Jonathon has only run 1500 - 3:38 / 3000 - 7:46 / 5000 -13:21 /10000 - 28:33
Although those marks are very respectable, I can not seem to understand what or why hasn't this athlete improve more than this. Maybe I am wrong and he has already reached his top limit, however I've always believed that by the age of 26, Jonathon should have been running 1500- 3:30's Mile - 3:48-3:52 3000 -7:30's
1 - Is it the training done in the past? Too much intense track work at an earlier age?
2 - Not enough variety in his current training from year to year to provide a different stimulus for improvement?
3 - Hit personal limit very young?
What do you other coaches out there believe he is lacking?
