All the evolution of man talk. All this no human limits talk. No one can break 1:42 800m anymore. Last done, 2012. No women can break 1:54 800m.

Trump said he doesn't know whether Giuliani is still his personal lawyer.....or something close to that.
He also said that he doesn't know the former ambassador to Ukraine......or something close to that.
It is hard to grasp what he is telling us because sometimes he blabbers..........or he is joking......as his supporters always tell the world.

Wrong.
I have an idea for a new race format. It's hobbyists versus elites. It's an out and back marathon length course. The elites have to run the whole thing, the hobbyists start at the turn-around point. Everyone starts at the same time.
Potentially great spectacle watching some tired out elite trying to run down some huge fat guy with strong legs and lots of will.
Particularly impressed that he stayed with the leaders biding his time all the way, then had that kick for the last quarter mile. GOAT.
How does this affect Nike? Nike put in millions of dollars and spent a couple of years researching(According to the national geographic documentary). So all they did was setup the foundation for INEOS to reap the benefits of all that research? The best thing that Nike did was to select Kipchoge for their breaking2. Imagine if they had selected Bekele, they would of fallen flat on their face with all three failing miserably attempting the sub2. Then INEOS 159 challenge might never happen and Adidas could have a glimmer of hope for their breaking2 project. As it stands now, Adidas totally missed out on an opportunity to challenge Nike. All of the the runners today were wearing Nike tank tops and shoes! As for their underwear, I am not going to speculate, but could be Nike too!
1) despite being an exhibition, this was one of the best-presented running events I have ever seen. Freely broadcast, no commercials, a parade of top elites and sub-elites, no BS about countries until the flag thing at the end. No cuts away from the action, interviews done picture-in picture. NBC, BBC and Nike have been shown just how much they suck.
2) Kipchoge stepped on the line at 1:53.28, so he's disqualified. Sorry everybody.

you still fail to write a time correctly ?
This post isn’t directed at any user in particular, but my god you guys are insufferable. The athletics world championships went by without a mention in my workplace, I doubt most people knew they were on, but I couldn’t walk through the door this morning without everyone clamouring to get my opinion on this ‘historic event’. The validity of the performance can be questioned all you want, but the reality is that Kipchoge’s performance will bring some much needed publicity to our dying sport. For Christ’s sake, my colleague asked me, “who were those men in black running around him”. A huge sports fan, he was unable to recognise a single one of our sport’s stars. Have I gone on a rant? Yes, but I think it’s important to note how this can be beneficial for athletics as a whole regardless of the cheater shoe controversy.

They do something similar in the Vienna City Marathon.
One time they let Geb race vs Radcliffe, and gave her a huge headstart. Nevertheless, Geb easily caught her and won the race.
The other thing they do each year is called "hobby jogger challenge", where 42 hobby joggers race 1k each as relay and try to beat the winner (originally) and recently marathon WR. Even tho there are some solid teen runners in that group that run 2:35-2:40, they never broke the WR because some hobby joggers sign up claiming they can run sub 3 and then only run 3:20.
The sport needs sustainable interest, not one-off circus events. Just like the sport declined globally once world records stopped happening at the height of the EPO era, there's no going back to this well now that 1:59 has been run. We're sitting here talking about a number and shoes rather than the athletes.
It's an awful shame that the sport can't get its incentives right so the best race the best every season. We need storylines around that. We've had two Fall seasons with Kipchoge on the sidelines, and this year was even worse given Bekele's Berlin performance.

it's on.
may take five years, wait for the next GOAT
Bekele? Kipchoge? Rotterdam in the spring?
I agree on the circus events. Who cares if he ran sub 2:00 if it was done with pacers? I bet someone could break 1:40 in the 800 with pacers as well. Or s a sub 3:40 mile with pacers. But it doesn't count as a record so let's stick to records and real races please and not these freaky events.
And tomorrow they'll put the whole thing behind and don't even remember who Kipchoge is.
Slept through it on purpose. Did I miss anything interesting besides the final time? Give me the CliffNotes.

Was it really that bad? While not a fan of the sub-2 concept, i actually enjoyed that broadcast

How do they not have the ½ split!?!? It’s a marathon. That’s like the most important split to get.
Same thing in sub-2. Like how do yo u not have that mark on teh ground?
