Rumor: Rupp and Ritz are out of Chicago

That is a somewhat ambiguous answer in that he is neither denying nor confirming that Galen has some kind of thorn in his side that prevented him from a tune up race, and would also force him to consider not racing Chicago.

NOP and AlSal have always been extremely protective of Rupp. Rupp has qualified for the trials and has the Olympic standard. There is no reason for him to run a single race between now and the Olympic trials if he isn't 100%. So, I would not at all be surprised if he skips Chicago if he is having any troubles getting back into shape. And of course, his agent isn't going to tell the world about any problems Rupp is having. That is pretty standard.

As for Ritz, at this point, the scandalous rumor would be "Rupp is 100% healthy and ready for Chicago." Ritz has glass legs and is never healthy.

I guess I don't understand why the OP doesn't just man (or woman) up and register a username. It LITERALLY takes one minute to do.

"All set" seems pretty unambiguous. It seems to pretty directly say they dont think he will miss the race. That doesnt mean another injury cant pop up before then, but I dont think he would have responded that way if he was currently injured.

Presumably he must have been injured to skip a fall race, or just was not really in good enough shape yet. Or, knowing Al Sal, they could have done a simulated race with a couple of pacers and kept it quiet.

What are the chances the Alberto Salazar set up some sort of race just for galen to see where he is at?

Chicago , Boston , London etc. like to sign multi year deals with the athletes. They agree to a lump sum ( appearance money) to race x number of times over a set number of years. It gives a race director a quality field without having to bid for athletes every year.

I read that response as quite ambiguous. Could've said fit, ready, healthy, etc...

Hope I'm wrong. But it sounds non-committal.

Kind of like there will be a statement a few days prior to the race saying there was a small setback and it isn't worth the risk.

because when you don't register a name you can change your name EVERY time you post or reply, and your username can then be related to the topic being discussed.

For what it is worth, I talked to the elite coordinator a few months ago about whether I could enter the elite field and at the time she advised me to do the American development program entry. Then last week after months of no communication she emailed me saying she might have an elite entry for me and she would know for sure and let me know early this week.

So you read the statement "Galen is all set for Chicago – it will be his next race" and interpreted it as "Galen is not racing Chicago"?

So much wrong with this. First, 5 heads is the same is 5 tails, so it's really 5 of the same flip in a row. The probability is 1/16 which isn't particularly small. Also, without an initial hypothesis that the coin is unfair, those first 5 flips would just give you enough evidence to create a hypothesis. It is enough for you to now do further testing.

The free throw shooter is completely different because we expect a high degree of variation from free throw shooters. We still expect variation, but not as much, from coins. Still, 5 of the same side is 1/16, so not unusual at all. It occurs with the same frequency as American men 6'1.5" or taller. Is that unusually tall? Not really.

My only question would be exactly this and thanks for answering. If he is already eligible for the oly trial/olympics then there is no need to race chicago if not 100%.
