really nice
This sounds really good. Going to pick up a copy. Author is Russ Ebbets.
A new book about the 10 men that held both the 5 and 10 kilometer WR is reviewed by T&FN. Called "The Five And Ten Men: Ten Men Who Redefined Distance Running."
Sounds like a well written and really interesting book:
Sounds like a great read. Now I have two more books to get, this one and Supernova.
Distance training Simplified, Sprinter's Compendium, Range, Daniels Running formula, Transfer of Training Volume I & II, Periodization by Tudor Bompa, Science of Running, Running by Frans Bosch. Others mentioned are good as well.

That book that Quentin Cassidy referenced in OAR about the gay runner and his coach was actually very good, as a book. I think the author was Patricia Warren. I read it about 40 years ago so I am fuzzy on the details.
Sounds like you really like books on gays

A snippet of the great ones of my time ... so much more. Fascinating to read the life stories chronicling their training and racing alongside their struggles.
Lots of good new running books out this fall - winteer; Magill, 5K and Amery, The Five and Ten. If your looking for fiction, new novel, Racing Shadows is out on Amazon. Good buys for CyberMonday at Barnes & Nobel as well as Amazon exspecially if your running CIM or getting ready to watch or follow the OT!

Just grabbed this the other day. Great insight to his training and lifestyle. Dude had wheels
I highly recommend it.
Trump - The Art of the Deal
218er, I hope you had a good editor.
It is you're, not your and '80s, not 80's
I had to stop reading your posts.
What's everyone reading during Coronapalypse - not just running books? Just finished a book about probation, Second Chance Club, Hardy - very interesting memoire. Going to read a Gail Godwin book my wife recommended, Evensong (female priest in New England). If you want a good running book, Racing Shadows (Amazon) is out with good reviews.
218er...you in Northern MN? I'm from International Falls, live in DC now.
I'm currently reading the 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle for a work book club, it's pretty good. I'm very early in but it reminds me of Knives Out
Recently read and enjoyed:
War and Turpentine by Stefan Hertmans - about a WWI Belgian soldier's live, the battle scenes are insane and super interesting. Also, Spanish Flu makes a quick but lasting cameo
Caleb's Crossing by Geraldine Brooks - novel based on true story of first Native American graduate of Harvard. Her writing is amazing and evocative, great historical fiction
Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI by David Grann - true crime by a journalist about the truly insane and highly disturbing murder of hundreds of Osage Indians in the early 20th century
The Nickel Boys by Colson Whitehead - story about a horrific 'boys school' in Florida in the early 20th century, based on a true story
I was a middle distance runner (track and XC) all through HS and college, read Once a Runner in the mid-90s, and can recall how much I identified with that book. It felt like the only book that accurately depicted the mentality and lifestyle of truly dedicated runner.
My son is 15yo, finishing up his freshman year, and shows talent and dedication to the same sports, including track, XC, and basketball.
I own both Once a Runner and Racing in the Rain and would like to pass them on to my son. Should I suggest he read Once a Runner first? It’s the only one I’ve read so I already know it’s great, but Racing the Rain seems like it may be more level/age appropriate.
Thoughts or suggestions appreciated.

The more he tries to sell his book here the less likely I want to buy it.
John McDonnell. Insight into how he built the greatest dynasty in collegiate sports.
Another new book;
Born to Coach - The Story of Bill Squires by Paul Clerici.
Founded and coach of the Greater Boston TC. Coached Bill Rodgers, Greg Myers, Bob Hodge, Alberto Salazar, Dick Beardsley and a host of others.
Received decent reviews.

Oh c'mon man. We're not living in the '80s anymore. Nothing wrong confusing "your" and "you're." It's even perfectly acceptable to type "ur" in 2020.
Parker Valby post 5k interview... Worst of all time? Are Parker Valby interviews always cringe?
