For distances that short, there's no point in finding a stability shoe. It will make no difference, except add more weight to the shoe. There also isn't a such thing as a stability track shoe if you're looking at spikes. There are shoes like the New Balance 1500, Asics DS Trainer, etc. that are stability tempo shoes, but those wouldn't be something I would look at for a 1.5 mile race on a track. Those are distance road shoes, and quite a bit heavier than a track race shoe. I would either get a distance spike like a Matumbo or something, or the 5280 if you don't want spikes.
