I make decent money but nothing to brag about, really. I do, however, have quite a bit of money for my age in investments (stocks), and my wealth has grown steadily over the last 10 years to the point I'm at about the 82nd percentile for my age. I've been able to do this by living significantly beneath my means, but that hasn't been difficult for me at all because I'm not materialistic and don't really even want to spend money on things most people care about. I live in a simple apartment and don't have a lot besides a ton of books. I feel like I have everything that I need with a decent couch, TV, computer, bed, etc. It's all simple but adequate.
Anyway, something that has happened numerous times at this point is a woman sees my simple lifestyle and judges me very hard for it. I've always kind of just laughed this off because so far every one of them has had terrible finances relative to myself. But now a different problem has arisen a few times: once the woman finds out that I'm living significantly beneath my means and actually have a "good" deal of wealth, she gets very angry. I don't totally understand it, but I think that it comes down to two reasons: 1) she doesn't understand investing (or sometimes even the concept of saving), and 2) she thinks I should be blowing every dime I have because that's how most people live. It's happened a couple times and has caused the end of at least one serious relationship I had because the woman felt like I "cheated" her in some way by having money that I wasn't spending on her. She was also a passionate feminist (go figure).
Are there any women who understand the concept of living humbly? Do all women feel entitled to every dime a man earns? Just wondering if any men here know of any because I haven't met any (yet), though my sample size is only about 20.
