Oh, you’re being pedantic.
You know what Chelimo, Centro and Farah have in common? They’re all earned WC/Oly medalists through the commonly regarded activity of racing. The type where people take chances, mix it up, even lead now and again.
But they also give medals at color runs so it’s all the same. Medal is a medal and racing is racing.
It's not being pedantic to point out that it's patently false to say that " the most self-promoted group in America comes into Championship races with explicit instructions not to race." It's common sense.
Did you listen to Kincaid’s interview on The Final Surge podcast? Because you’re splitting hairs in criticism or defense of what, exactly?
Why would a coach tell Lomong, already qualified in the 10k, explicitly not to lead the 5,000 when neither he or his teammate in the race have a qualifying standard? Why even start if the idea isn’t to either win the race in qualifying fashion and maybe pull a teammate along or at least work with them to try..?
I guess it’s common sense if the idea is to line up for a glorified last chance meet, not even attempt to achieve the standard to continue on with the season in any meaningful sense, and act like winning means something while guys that lost get to move on.
Then Lomong starts sht w/ Chelimo over it. We get it Lopez, you’re having your best season at 34 years old, but know your place.
