Not the first time I've thought this, but between the title of the thread and the content, the fact that an AD at a D1 university handed Rojo the keys to the car is freakin mind-blowing.
Empty barrel making lots of noise.

You watch the race and you realize Jenny is screwed at the 1500 this year. Probably next as well. 57!! I mean maybe she could pick up a bronze if others try to go with Muir/Hassan but don't you want to try to run for gold?
How many times has Muir bead Simpson at a championship vs the other way around? How many medals does each have from a global championship? If someone may have no chance to win, should they give up and go home without trying?
As one of the founders of a site meant to promote distance running, why do you want to bad mouth arguably the best 1500m runner the US has ever had, male or female? Seems strange.

I rank Matt CEntro higher. That Olympic gold ,in the field that he was in, just put him on a higher level, plus the silver and bronze world championship medals. Plus the world indoor championship gold. Jenny has not Olympic gold, which is the highest of championships.
And Jenny over Bernard Lagat? Nonsense.
For people who follow the sport, you sure aren’t that smart.
1). Muir is good on time trial races. She never produces with rounds and a final.
2) The steeplechase is much more difficult than when Jenny ran it b

People have to remember that this is Laura's first year of running full time. Being in PB shape now, and peaking in eight weeks are not mutually exclusive by any means.
Absolutely. What if she's in 3:55-flat shape now but peaks in Doha in 3:53-high shape? :-) That would seem like great coaching to me.

Not yet but then she has only been in 2 global championships since she became a serious contender (Rio & London). She's still learning as she showed by employing different tactics at London 2017 so that it didn't come down to a 1:57 last 800 like it did in Beijing 2015 & Rio.

You and ROJO apparently missed the point. Why are we bad mouthing a great US distance runner on this site? Jenny S has to get on the US team first, then we can see what a WC race with Muir will be. There are a few other players too, besides the US and British women.

Wow a 3:57.
Big deal.
Nobody cares.
Unless she gets her time down to 3:47.89 to 3:49 then it doesn't count.
So slow.
Pathetic.
Lol. Big bad wakanda John is after all the white people
Can she even beat Purrier and Houlihan? She may not even make the Olympics at 1500 let alone medal. Too late for the steeple however. Only one I know of that converted so fast was Keino.
Damn this thread is a year old. Pointless.
She's already been an American record holder in the steeple, 9:12, so it would just require one qualifier. If she's healthy, she'll be in the mix in the 1500m at trials, but right now it looks difficult. Houlihan and Purrier look to be locks and contenders in the Olympics, while there are quite a few others close to 4 flat. Jenny should qualify but time's getting a little short now. 4:10 to 4:00 shape in seven weeks or so? Yes, she can.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
