Williamson was held out of the New Orleans Pelicans preseason finale with the injury after incredible production and some breathtaking moments through four exhibition games to open his pro career.
The Pelicans listed Williamson at 6’6 and 284 pounds. As we’ve known since his college days, that makes him the second heaviest player in the league behind Mavericks 7’3 center Boban Marjanovic.
Can't play 82 games plus 20-odd play-off at that (over)weight.
E.g. Shaq had to go seriously lazy reg season, and then hope to rev up come playoff time.
At his position he also had to move his body in more orientations than Shaq. He has the weight of a center but has to apply way more torque for the moves that he does....Dude is a bust unless he drops 10 to 15% of his bodyweight.
Also, no rookie of the year awards for this dude. Another kid who the money people should have allowed to stay in college for 4 years.
While Kwame Brown is still the biggest first pick bust, If Zion can't play half the season he will take the title.
He will definitely break into this all time top 20 list:

Zion Williamson is probably one of the best athletes to ever play in the league and will be absolutely dominant when he is healthy. He is probably the strongest player in the league already. Nevertheless, he might be the most nimble power forward I have ever seen the way he goes through the lane around people. He has tremendous footwork and body control. He has soft hands and has an instinct for rebounds. He knows the game and sees the floor well. He has the infectious personality and drive of a league MVP. Nevertheless, he is putting a great deal of stress on his knees and joints at that weight, and even though he decidedly is not fat (muscle weighs more than fat), he needs to cut ten or twenty pounds. He would still be a monster but he can't change the league with knee problems.
How the fck are posts like this allowed?
Doesn't need to cut weight. Too many nerds just read stat lines and act like they know basketball.
Watch the games and you'll understand.

Uhh... yeah we're trying to watch games. Only problem is that he's never in them because he's injured because he's TOO HEAVY.
Seth Greenberg is full of it.
Zion has been killing it.
I could swear KD was in the NBA before 2017.
"Kevin Durant's actual height since he made it to the league in 2017."
Kyrie Irving missed a lot more games at Duke than Zion did and missed a lot of games in the NBA due to injury. Skinny Kevin Durant has missed a lot of games due to injury in the NBA. There is a long list of lighter weight players who have battled injuries their whole career. Manu Ginobli and other lighter weight players have blown out their shoes during a game.
I suspect Zion will be awesome and will win ROY. Let's wait a bit before we pronounce him dead.
Less highlight reel dunks would serve him well. Layups are worth two points, too. Every time Zion takes a layup, management should give him a bonus.

But he hadn't "made it" until he won a championship and finals MVP during his 10th year in 2017.
But what does he think about Hong Kong?

To me, he always looked like a tubby kid in a tall body whose size was only masked because of his height.
This is hilarious. I know quite a few people who are tall skinny kids but their just trapped in short fat bodies.
Zion Williamson has missed his entire NBA rookie season thanks to a meniscus tear in his right knee. The New Orleans Pelicans star underwent surgery about 9 weeks ago, but he's far from game-ready.
Stephen A. Smith recently suggested Zion sit out the rest of the season and focus on his recovery
