Free dunes runner and allow more honest discussion of Covid
There are a lot of ad hominem attacks. One recent post repeatedly called a senior in HS a whiny brat. I learned early on in my English and debate classes that if you have to resort to name calling, you lost the argument. People must not believe this idea anymore or they must teach something different in today's classes. Name calling will not help you in your career, relationships, or make a better message board. Name calling is endemic here. Even if a political post is largely statistical, I hear very little about the interpretation of the data, but I do find a ton of euphemisms about liberals and conservatives, most of them derogatory.
Lately, you can start entire threads about obesity being a drain on society. You can ridicule popular entertainers for being severely overweight. There have been long-lived threads about fat acceptance being detrimental. But if you state that a certain former POTUS is clinically obese, certain politically motivated mods will scrub those posts as "bigoted". Consistency, please!
Stop protecting Jamin and Greg from ridicule. If they seek attention with their respective threads, then they should have to take the heat. Cull the offensive name calling but stop deleting entire threads where they get roasted for bad ideas, banal thinking, and weird attempts to stir the pot.
Major cities have crime problems and those are worthy of discussion. If people have ideas or solutions, then let them speak. Get rid of the obvious racist invective.
Can we get single official threads for oft started topics? One Chicago thread. One for Baltimore. A single drag queen thread. Just one transgenderism thread. The front page is often embarrassing as a single poster starts multiple threads on the same topic. We all understand that these are divisive topics but, keep the madness to one super thread just like we do on other subjects.
Train your moderation staff to be more consistent and to only police the stated rules of the board. It has become far too obvious that some mods are squelching discussion based on their personal beliefs and deleting ideas that run counter to their personal politics.
I see a lot of threads that get deleted that have little or no redeeming value and I think thank goodness the mods got rid of that one.... I think it might be too easy to overlook the fact that they are clearing the site of a lot of questionable material, and it's not always clear cut where to draw the line.
LOL! I understand now. Using examples for infamous posters is now an attack. But derogatory references to people of color, members of political parties, entire civic populations, and those with alternative lifestyles are not. Got it! Don't criticize the individual (it might hurt their feelings!) but flame away on groups (because at LRC, communities cannot possibly have feelings).
Duly noted.
This is racist and sexist.
I agree, and the attack on groups and derisive generalizations grows really tiresome.
Another thing - when a handful of posters, and we all know them by name (unfortunately) just take over a discussion to the exclusion of an unfettered exchange of ideas. It basically shuts it down and reduces it to an ongoing disproving of erroneous assertions and an exercise in deflection. Totally dead-ends what might otherwise be a good discussion.
I propose that a poster that dominates pages and pages of a discussion be limited, and i suggest that this be done in the interest of maintaining broad participation.
I also think this is done by some in order to render opposing views from being aired and heard.
There are numerous anti-white posts here that don't get deleted; there are a few anti-Asian ones as well. For example, the poster "4587" is racist
You are correct. I'm trying to understand why some can state, "I hate red haired people! They are all liars and perverts that should be deported or jailed!!!" and that is a legit post allowed to stay up.
If someone posts, "TROOF! No one here cares that bus fare went up by a nickel in your city. This is the 15th thread that you have started this week about that topic. Stop bothering us with this crap!", that post gets deleted as a personal attack and the poster might even get a time out.
Which post was more offensive - the one insulting all gingers for no reason or the one telling me to quit using LRC as my personal complaint megaphone? One would think that blanket slamming a large group of people for a shared physical trait is the greater crime.

Yeah I get it. I see some anti black comments that get removed (but they have to be egregious), same with a few anti white ones that also have to be egregious, but there are mildly racist ones that stay
Agree with your point about a certain city in a highly Northern country and a certain resident there though

Think this place would be a lot better off if all of us had to register and own our stuff, build a reputation, have a history.
Too many immature posters here to allow this anonymously trip.
I have decided to make life better for the mods there will be no more threads from me, I will just post in others.
Get Rojo on the horn. There is allegedly one mod doing 97% of deletions.
There’s a lot of very concerned posters. Need Wejo to get involved here.

Create an “off topic” board that you only moderate for violence
