He'll probably go 2:10-2:13.
Zane is surging. Yuta is trying to hang on.
So Lagat is through 15k in 19th place in 47:26. That's 2:13:29 pace, which means he's very unlikely to hit the Olympic standard either by time (2:11:30) or finishing in the top 5.

He's on pace for 2:16 or worse. Oh well there's always next week

Agreed. Top 5 in this field was way too big an ask and a 2:11 an even bigger one. Kudos to him for giving it a shot.

Probably taking it as a training run, does have the world championships coming up.

I mean, if he can run 2:13:29 at age 44, that's still super impressive to me. This is a guy who ran 3:26 for 1500m 18 years ago!

Island, he always races his marathons. He is just having a bad race, it happens.

Humidity is going be the factor, a lot of people who are not taking it cautiously the first half will pay for it.
60:20 for the lead men at 20k.
1:03:36 for Zane at the half, on target to break 2:08 in that heat? wow!
Bernard and Yuki at 1:06:27 on target to break 2:13
Anyone know results of the half?
Sara Hall was going for a PR.
So this Mungara guy who holds course and all comers record at 2:08:40 set those records in 2015 at the age of 41!

Sara just broke 1:12 way more hot/humid than her 1:09 last year

Thank you.
Not a good run for her today but likely still a decent payday since ASICS dictated this race for her.
