By the same token, Derek Murphy brought this upon himself. He is in hiding. He seems to be looking for a lawyer. Karma.
You are imaging things, little one. Keep running scarred. Derek is in hiding . . . sudden silence.

Sadly, Derek does have those issues. He hasn't been able to get over it. But now .... wrongly death law suit will come at him soon.
Are you a scary Internet vigilante who struggles with spelling? Not impressed.

Indeed they are. Especially since they are based on the income value of the person. Meza was a working doctor. And his family has greater than normal expenses. That income, and loss to the family, is going to be expensive for the bullies.
Are you the same troll that started the threats in the last thread? When Derek started getting threats is when everyone jumped in with all the additional evidence. Also, spend some time understanding the law before you post.

That's because Derek is respecting Frank's family and friends given the new development of Frank's death. Read his statement. There is no reason for him to take interviews. His statement was perfect. Derek reports facts. He doesn't make assumptions, bully, or post memes. You and others really need to back off.
-not Derek

Inside Edition will be knocking on his door soon.
"Derek in OH" you certainly appear to be a troll, one who tries to menace, one whose skills with spelling and grammar are shoddy. Can you please at least clean up your posts if you are going to attempt to menace people? You are not one to be taken seriously.

I've caught myself up on this sad situation. I'm left with the very simple question: do the effects of what we say matter, or does only the truth matter?
I see a simple split in answering this question when we ask if we should pursue someone like Dr. Meza. Many people do reading and research and come to the clear conclusion he cheated, and so to note he cheated is a sensible thing to do. To shout it even to ensure justice is served. He is "guilty" after all. Others will say that our words and actions matter, and that if noting something causes harm, even if true, then we should question if it is required to be said. If there's still benefit in it. If the bads outweighs the goods.
We are not responsible for another person's actions. And so in that we can't hold ourselves accountable for the man's death. But we are also intelligent and able to looking ahead, and therefore we're capable of doing more than the minimum. If we know the chance to upset and humiliate a man to the extent he may kill himself is possible, then it becomes our responsibility to understand that before we speak, regardless of where accountability falls.

HI, DEREK!
While we're pursing Meza stuff, perhaps it would be even more relevant at this point to purge threads that are critical of female runners' development, particularly ones singling out a particular individual. All of the Mary Cain washed up threads, etc.

A lawsuit from his family will determine which of you are accountable. California is very progressive with bullying, and cyberbullying, laws. Sucks to be you boy who went on the lynch-style attack. Confronting his employer. Posting his address. Following him on his runs. You boys are in trouble.
The Frank Mesa saga, as far as Letsrun's role in it, has been reduced to a handful of people doubling down on the declaration that Frank Mesa brought this on to himself. The input from people who had been most active up until yesterday, however, are eerily absent. I think they are just coming to the realization that predicting that a story is going to go viral, and being the main vehicles that caused this story to go viral, are two very different things. Anyone who has followed this story from page one as I have can easily recognize that there was a small group, maybe five disconnected individuals, who were steering this ship and simply refused to let it sink. This even after some insightful posters recommended that it would be wise to do so. Its kind of ironic that the MO of one of these guys was to write in an ominous "Deer Frankie" fashion, and repeatedly stated "I bet you are hoping this just goes away" and such. Well, I'm willing to bet that at present he is the one hoping for the same thing. They are probably wondering just how permanent of a paper trail of their efforts was left out there. What questionable lines they might have crossed. And, they are also just realizing just how prominent of a PERSON outside of cheating, a REAL LIFE PERSON, this guy was. This should not play a factor, and does not make his cheating any more acceptable. But what can I say, life is cruel, and unfair, and this leads to downright tragic results at times
This guy was absolutely loved and revered for the life's worth of work he did. Some of his admirers will react with emotion. Some are gonna be overly-zealous. Some will inevitably ask where this wild-fire started and not back down until they get answers. Sound familiar? And who knows, maybe ABC news will find that investigating the story's origin is click-generating. The irony goes on and on.
+1
well said, thank you

Ummm I know this because of Derek's statement on his website:
"
I am deeply saddened to learn of Frank Meza’s death.
My heart goes out to his family and friends, and I wish for everyone to be respectful and to keep his loved ones in mind.
There will be a time for comment and a broader discussion, but at this point, I feel that we should all allow those close to Frank the space to grieve.
At this time, I will have no further comments to the media.
Thank You
