Well, I hope the money is good... and I guess she will be training in Seattle which is close to Alaska and home. I wonder if Nike/BTC failed to bid (or offered too little) given that they already have Frerichs and Quigley?
Good luck Allie!

Wow, I was not expecting that at all. I wonder how that decision came about. Other than Katie Mackey, I cant name a single Brooks Beast athlete.
Hope it works out well for her!
Wasn't Nick Symmonds in this group?
Garrett Heath, Izaak Yorks, Drew Windle, Jessica Tonn have all been on the scene for a couple years.
But yeah, other than proximity to Alaska hadn't really thought of this group as being in the mix. Would have thought BTC, Coburn's group, or as others said yesterday with Ray Treacy/Huddle/Sisson out east.
Maybe they offered her >>$40K, an offer she couldn't refuse.

Do you work for Nike?

I wonder if she is looking to do a combo of mountain and track, like Joe Gray. I think that would make her uniquely marketable, more so than track and roads only.
This could be a possibility. Even though she is signed up for Mt Marathon this week I'll be somewhat surprised if she lines up, with nationals only a few weeks away. But if she does run both that could be her approach into the future. See how it goes in Des Moines and if she doesn't make that team do upcoming USA and world trail champs later this summer/fall.
she's already on the Pan Am team as well
She already graduated, so the question was more whether she wanted to go for more champs with a graduate degree.
She's not at the level of our international runners yet, but she just improved by six seconds against pros her first time out after a long season. Her frame suggests a future on the roads. Best of luck to her. She is a gamer.

Who is going to sign a 9:30 steepler?
Her best events will be off-road, trail, mountain marathons and ultras.

Lol no, why?
Wasn't the entire women's brooks beast ten disbanded a year or 2 ago? Who will she train with besides mackey
Nelson, Mackey, Fredronic, the boys, etc.
If she and Brooks are smart she will be the most marketable trail, mountain, ultra runner in the country in 5+ years. This is where the sport is growing the most. Not the track. not in the US. Run a few steeples but start hitting the trails Allie. You are from Alaska by the way. Brooks always has been a trail running company now they have a woman to help push that lifestyle brand. I bet she got a $100k+/yr contract. Way more marketable than any make distance runner who just graduated.
Have you thought about the fact multiple people probably feel this way and isn't one person living on Lets Run? If the shoe fits... IMHO

Okay, we got it. You don't like the guy. You post on every BSU related thread. You're bitter for who knows what reason. You'd be bitter at any program. You've justified your resentment and held on to it. Sorry your college career didn't pan out the way you wanted it it. You have some goal of trying to bring that coach and program down. Go public and quit being such an anonymous troll. This thread is about Allie and Iggy, not your grievances.

so you think the shoe fits?....that ruined every talented athlete at Boise except for Allie......yet somehow he has one of the most successful female distance programs in the nation.. how do you do that if you ruined every athlete?
is he a great coach?...i dunno.....what i do know is the assertion that he ruins every athlete is clearly false.

She was and is still a good flat racer, steeple may have strengthened her.
Take off all the collegiate point getting racing, she may be able to focus on bigger goals.
Pre steeple showed her the reality of the pro world , she's 30 seconds behind.
World champs and Tokyo at this point are a reach in the steeple.
Hopefully they let her race non steeple to improve her speed.
Road racing might do her well, she's a good x-country athlete too, nice transfer of skills.
She's probably actually favored for the 4th spot for the worlds team right now. she beat Mel Lawrence, her probable rival for that spot at Pre.
She's also already on the Pan Am team in the steeple.
Long term, I agree she might be better served moving away from the steeple, but in the short term it's going allow her to make international teams and gain experience and exposure.
All exposure is not good. Most women think she is great but they have no idea about her times. They will be shocked to see her, or actually not see her, 30 seconds behind in races. It will not be good for her sponsor.

qualifying for the US world's team is great, no matter where you place. I'm sure you always won though.

It might be someone associated with one of the past BSU coaches Coach Dilly? He had moderate success at BSU but mostly from his foreign transfer from Central Oregon CC. After they graduated so did all of his success.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
