Tefera hasn't had a decent outdoor race this year, clocking 3:40.19 in Stockholm before yesterday's debacle at Pre where he faded hard to finish 7th in 3:53.50. His results wouldn't suggest he's the same beast from indoors.
As for Manangoi, he had a great opener in Doha, holding off Cheruiyot for the win in a world-leading time of 3:32.21. However, I doubt anyone would've predicted his 2nd-to-last place 3:48.83 in Stockholm, and again yesterday he faded hard at Pre to run a 3:57.48 for 12th.
WTH is happening?
Also, since I imagine that half of the responses will be whining about how "they're doped to the gills", and whatnot, could someone please explain why a significant drop in performance over a VERY short period of time would indicate PED usage?
I am certainly skeptical about East African dominance in the 1500/mile, but I'm not sure drug usage is to blame for their poor performance as of late.
