Same happened to me a year ago. 6 to 8 weeks off running should be adequate. Pool running is a good way to maintain some fitness while you heal up.

Hate to hear it; been there. Stress reactions/fractures, by their nature, only show up when you are really getting in shape; you don’t get them by sitting on the couch all day :-/

You really should get an MRI or bone scan. Self diagnosis of stress fractures/reactions is not a good idea. You really need to know exactly what you are up against so you can get back to running on a proper schedule without lots of relapsing.
