What? Dude, how is this an apt comparison? Applying to colleges and being recruit for sports are two different things. Yes, parents should help in the college application process (looking at schools, offering opinions, maybe costs, etc) but ultimately the responsibility should fall on the student. No, coaches don't want kids whose parents recruit for them. Kids who can't contact coaches themselves don't tend to last in college running because they aren't problem solvers. For every kid you can think of that did, there's 20 that didn't.
