Isn’t it as simple as are you losing weight?
I’ve always gauged my diet by weight, if I start losing weight I know to eat more, if I start gaining weight, eat less. Any reason why it isn’t this simple?
Not necessarily. As someone who struggled with an eating disorder in my past, I was running 70-80mpw, eating around 1000 calories a day, and NOT losing any weight. My body was in total starvation/panic/freakout mode.
I went into eating disorder treatment, cut my mileage to 20-30mpw, started eating 3500- 4000 calories a day, and LOST weight.
The body is strange. It's not as simple as calories in, calories out.
But the OP definitely has disordered eating. Please seek help. It's *really* not worth it to live like that. Life is so much better when you are constantly starving. It takes awhile, but you will learn to trust your hunger/fullness cues again.
And for what it's worth, 10 years removed from treatment, my weight has virtually stayed identical (give or take 5 pounds) from when I was starving myself and running 70-80mpw to now (which is feeding myself properly and running 30-40mpw).
Good luck, OP.
