As with any classic track meet, it all came down to the 4x4, when the pressure got to USC's star athlete on the third leg:
Ark's Chadwick saved the bacon for the pigs with her quick maneuver outside to avoid the disaster.

Not so sure getting tripped up counts as the pressure getting to you. She was ready to burn home and probably hand off first. She did have some poor racing tactics though. She shouldn't have let herself get boxed in.

Even the not-always-observant Dwight Stones commented on her overstriding right before stepping on the runner ahead of her, then fumbling the stick. She was crumbling like a house of cards. It happens to the best.
On the positive note, Chadwick was clutch in handing off in second. Arkansas as a team was phenomenal.

Making her fans proud !
To be honest, I never expected her to be doing so well in College. After all, she was running 75+ miles per week in HS and listening to all them LRC pundits that mileage should have kicked all the running outta her. What goes?
She ran 75+ mpw in HS? Do you have a source for that?
I attended a clinic where her high school coach presented on their training. She was most definitely running that kind of mileage. She was doubling 6 days a week. Morning runs were 4-6 miles. Then they would run more than that after school. I think he said the only day they didn't double was race day. And they were not gym jogging that mileage either.
Cute/clean AF
Talk about a marketable athlete once she goes pro, extremely attractive and tough as nails! Has Bowerman Babe written all over her!

But it was Taylor's 5K points in immediately preceding event that really magnified said pressure!

Agreed, Taylor was by far the MVP, if she doesn't score in the 5K the baton drop never happens. She put the pressure on USC and they folder.
Follow-up on the Cockrell bittersweet angle:
It galls me a bit that Chadwick is getting no mention for clinching the title for Ark. 9/10 athletes would have tripped up in that scenario.

How did you come to that conclusion? Seems like you're projecting state of mind from your own personal experience?
A dispassionate observer would conclude she simply clipped the girl in front of her.
SHOUT OUT and BUMP... after this I'll let it go (I'm the OP), but it tics me off when I see Flotrack ran put out an article titled "Who won the NCAAS" and they don't even mention Taylor. Flo really shows themselves to be a bunch of knuckleheads at times. Here is the Flo article to which I refer:

Taylor - hope you and your mates have a great summer, and can't wait to see the hogs do in XC. WooPigSooooooie!
I'm sure Taylor is still living it up after winning a national title and doesn't really care what crappy flotrack says. I think she'll beat Kelati next year in all 3 seasons. Kelati is old, she's going to start going backwards like Kurgat.
