The rural intermountain west. Take your pick of Idaho, Wyoming , Montana, Eastern Washington;), or Colorado. Id find a nice little chunk of property (40+ acres) just outside of a quiet little town up in a valley somewhere that bordered National Forest.

this is actually me. My wife and I have enough money to retire...but we're in the same NYC apartment we've been in for 20 years. Going to explore the nation a week at a time and see where we want to put down new roots.
Hard to beat NYC tho...the people are very smart here. But so many jerks.
It’s actually really easy to beat N.Y.C if you have money. The Bay Area crushes it in every regard except art museums.

Is there an equivalent to NYRR there? With competitive, 8,000 person races twice per month? With lots of big running teams?
I do like SF, but I don't think the running scene is as good there as it is here.

Of all the ways to make your case that N.Y. is better than the Bay Area, you picked the running scene?
The little villages of the New England hold an irresistable charm for me. Vermont small town, or the like.
I don't know. Having a couple of homes would make the decision a bit easier. And if so, buy me a little place in Carmel by the Sea, CA., too.
Where I am at is hard to beat (and I guess that a good thing....)

I'd stay in Aspen, just get a bigger house.
Palm Springs, across the street from Mar a Lago, so I could hang my hairy a$$ out the window all day in an unabated show of appreciation.

If money were no concern, it would still not be enough.

Myrtle Beach sucks, and Utah is good for visiting, not staying.
I would live in North West Austin TX
You couldn't pay me to live in the US. I can't get my head around your love for guns and hate for universal health care. I would include your head of state as reason #1, but honestly anywhere these days is as likely as not to elect a narcissistic, megalomaniac, egomaniac, nationalistic criminal as head of state; if I used that as a screening criteria, I'd have to rule out many of my favourite countries... :-)
In Yellowstone! Nice place.

well yeah running is very important to me. being on a team is very important to me. Not sure why you think I should ignore what I care about and what is my main hobby, but ok go ahead.

Some of the best now in the world, hence the term “champagne powder” was coined there. The tree skiing is world class. The Nordic skiing is as good as anywhere, as is the backcountry skiing.
The best thing is, in my opinion, the summer and fall is even better than winter what with trail running, mountain biking, hiking, and fishing.
Much less pretentious than Aspen or Vail, a true mountain town and a great place for families.
