What you are doing is great. I think that is a great way to build your base. Do that for "as long as possible." But then you must progress with another speed endurance day (150s, 300s, 1000s) and also add another speed development day (Hills and/or intensive running such as Flying 30s )(or 5 x 80 meters with at least 3 minutes rest between.) So, you need 2 speed endurance workouts and 2 speed development workouts with recovery day runs between. Run multiple speeds. Spend time with a top sprint coach. He can give you things to improve your speed such as improving your form, working on acceleration, and running drills to improve quickness. Jumping rope is an oldie that works well for sprinters.
The idea of all this speed development is it will make running fast for longer periods of time easier because it will seem slower to you. Sprinters often train exclusively on repeat 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 80s, as well as various drills. This will help you run 200s faster. Be careful with it but downhill running has been known to work wonders for some people.
Ease into anything new!
You also could try running 200s and 400s in meets. Why? Because it will make running the 800 easier because it will suddenly be a slower pace for you. I would not use the blocks though, injury is too easy.
