I run 5ks in the 18 min range. I am a 40 y/o male who had averaged about 15-20 mpw for the last year. Race time predictors day the equivalent marathon would be in the 2:50s. Obviously l can’t run that right now since my longest run has been around 7-8 miles. How much training would it take to run that equivalent time? Could I do it in 12 weeks?
My goal is to run sub 16 5k but to do that I need to increase mileage but I struggle to just run more just because... if I was following a marathon plan it would force me to increase mileage maybe this fall and then try some 5k training next spring. I don’t want to be running a marathon in the 3:30+ range though....
