Hi, I need some ideas to write about for this essay. Here's the prompt:
In this final essay, you will imagine yourself as both film critic and social commentator. You will write a review of a film that takes NYC as its setting or subject, using your critique to not only offer perspective on the film, but also as a platform to comment on some aspect of life in the city that the film has you thinking about. Ultimately, from this platform you will advocate for a change you would like to see.
Your review should have three motives: a) to represent and discuss the film under review and your opinions about it--whatever they are--in terms that you think will keep your audience interested (whether or not you like the film and want them to see it, you want them to want to keep reading your review!); b) to use your discussion of the exhibit to convey a larger concern with regard to New York City that you want your readers to contemplate; c) to advocate and argue for an idea in response to that concern, an idea you want readers to consider and perhaps act on.
In writing your review, you should utilize at least one piece of evidence from an ancillary written source (not about the film!!) as a means of providing context for the larger concern the film has propelled you to think about.
I just had a conference with my professor and he told me I am doing everything well but need help with section (b), (section (c) needs work but once I get (b) done then it won't be too difficult).
Does anyone who has seen the movie GoodFellas have any ideas about how there is an idea in the movie that relates to NYC?
