Yamauchi can comeback!
Yamauchi can comeback!

This is so stupid and embarrassing to watch. There's nothing to be gained from walking/jogging/shuffling 100 damn kilometers. A silly contrived event for weirdos who can't hack marathon training.
Then why are you watching it?

Because the main thing advertised and aimed for was the 100Km, not a non event distance no one has attempted in anger for decades, set in a proper 'open' race to boot.
It was never on
I know I am sitting in the cold at a 24hr event with nothing to do, but lots of time wasted here.
Lets see if the other guy can still do it
Hideaki Yamauchi is still close to the world record and Pat Reagan is still on course for a sub 6:30 finish.
But it will be a tough jog for Jim for the last 2.5 lops.

Go Jim!
He'll be walking soon of flat-out DNF.
Imagine how much better his life would be had he dedicated all his training to the marathon.
Imagine how much better your life would be if you did anything you claim to on this site.
Only on LR is Jim not hitting the 100k record YET STILL SETTING THE 50 MILE RECORD considered a failure.
The only clown is in Jim’s quads & saying, “OK, Mr. World Record Holder, here’s where we pay the rent...”
BTW, what is the elevation drop percentage for the 50M as opposed to the 100km?

yeah hes not going to set 100k but two world records in one race is a tall order
The thing is this race is set up as a 100K WR attempt. Sure, setting a 40 mile WR is great, but it's much less amazing than setting a 100K WR would be (since the last 20 km are the hard part of the 100K). And it just feels a bit like a fallback goal. Went for the 100K, couldn't make it so took the 50 mile. I for one could care less if the 50 mile WR gets broken by a few seconds or not but I tuned in to see a challenge for the 100K WR. I know Jim had no chance of getting that but I at least wanted to see him try and see what he actually could do on a 100 km: 6:15? 6:20? 6:30? (My guess would be probably around 6:35, the last 20 km in a 100 km are just so tough and Jim is not made for that. But I would have loved to be proven wrong.)
So I'm disappointed that Jim Walmsley starts walking before the finish of the race (it's a 100 km race after all).

Yeah, because warm temps are a total unknown to Kenyans. They probably just do an air conditioned treadmill run, right?
Because he knows, unlike many here, that Kipchoge and any other sub-2:10 marathoner would get blown out trying to run this today.
No comeback needed. Hideaki Yamauchi just took over the lead. He is going for a new personal best in the 6:15 region, is my guess.

I would celebrate him if he set the 50 mile record in a 50 mile race. But it's a 100 km race and he started walking before the end of a race once again, that's what's disappointing.
So youre telling me that if you had a chance to get a world record, instead of going for it you would slog through another hour and a half of mediocrity to not set any records? I dont understand how people are criticizing him right now, a lot of people bonked in this race and it does him no good to give up the 50 mile record
Man, Yamauchi looks amazing. Rooting for Yamauchi and Reagan now who seem to have paced themselves a little better than Walmsley for the 100K.
It should also be noted the 50 mile record is significantly harder to break than 100k. The 100k record has changed numerous times recently, while Bruce Fordyce's record held since 1983 (I believe). It is by far the greater achievement.
Congratulations Jim!!

Yeah all of the Kenyan runners I know actually do very well in the heat compared to Americans. One of my Kenyan teammates used to run with a jacket on if it was below 65. On the other hand many of them seem to run very poorly once it gets below 30. Kipchoge would likely easily dominate this event by several minutes.
Forget all this focus on Kipchoge. Any standard 2:14 marathoner would destroy all these Instagram joggers. It would be a bloodbath.
Hahahahahahahaha. Sorry, let me collect myself after that hilarious joke of a statement.
Even the LR man knows that's bullshit and said so. Kipchoge gets beat. That's what he said. To think any 2:14 marathoner could compete with any of the guys today is ludicrous. The only bloodbath would be the marathoners' feet from never running anywhere close to this distance.

Really bummed that you're disappointed. Hope your day isn't ruined or that your glumness rains on anyone else's day. Hang in there sad sack. Remember.....a frown is just a smile upside down.
Shohohe, that's simply because you are a retard.
