On Saturday the College Men's 4 X Mile was a Wall of Fame Event in honor of Seneca Lassiter. It would've been nice if the Hogs were there. As I kid my track team buddies and I loved watching Joe Falcon, then Niall Bruton, Graham Hood, then Seneca.
As young distance runners we viewed that program the way young AAU hoops kids view Duke and Kentucky.
Completely agree. The affect of this meet on the tons of youth who compete and attend is incredible. Any high school runner in the vacinity of Philly idolizes this meet and I have so many memories of watching runners who went on to be international stars.
It really makes you grateful for the pros that come out. For them it makes little sense at all with their schedule but I feel like they understand the duty they have towards the sport.
I imagine this is exactly why Carl Lewis and Leroy Burrell keep Houston in attendance.
