On Saturday the College Men's 4 X Mile was a Wall of Fame Event in honor of Seneca Lassiter. It would've been nice if the Hogs were there. As I kid my track team buddies and I loved watching Joe Falcon, then Niall Bruton, Graham Hood, then Seneca.

As young distance runners we viewed that program the way young AAU hoops kids view Duke and Kentucky.

It is both comical and ridiculous to call anything a “National Championship” when there is no set qualifying standard and the format is an invitational where better teams are denied entry.

This meet is a clown show and nothing more. Arkansas should be embarrassed.

Step One: Create bogus “national championship” meet.

Step Two: Invite lesser teams only, then beat those lesser teams.

Step Three: Post ridiculous articles on school website claiming to be “National Champions” lololol.

UCFs National Championship in football is more legit than this nonsense.

I was at Drake Th and Fri with good crowds and great weather. That pic was taken Saturday when the weather was terrible and I’m sure the crowd was not going to sit thru 38 degrees rain and wind.

What's funny is there are STILL lots more people in terrible weather at Drake than on a nice day in Arkansas

Here is the reality. For what coaches care about the national relays fit the bill. More top NCAA marks than either penn or drake. Here is some more reality. I believe LSU (who has more penn relays history than anybody), Texas a&m, Georgia, Florida, Texas tech, Virginia all hosted meets. Wouldn’t blame one meet for the downfall of Penn. If you do want to blame one meet, blame the meet two weeks before the national championship.

The weather has a lot to do with your statistics. It was very windy at Penn, Drake's weather was everything bad that weather can be at a track meet.

Arkansas should not have that meet.

Completely disagree. These UA idiots made a fake national championships for some promotional nonsense. Like dude said, how can you call it a national championship but it’s an invitational? With only a handful of teams? And not even the best teams!! It’s a joke lol and it should be treated as such.

The men's coach at Arkansas (Bucknam) thought up this idea of a "national relay championship" and really thought teams would come to Fayettenam in droves. I give him props for attempting to do something different, but thought it was a little arrogant to believe just because he's at Arkansas it would change peoples minds. He should cancel the meet and return to Penn Relays where his teams would do well.

I hope schools that are recruiting against Arkansas are using this against them.

I can understand why he wouldn't want to go north in late April. The weather is unpredictable and most of the great sprint programs are in the south. But the people that are willing to go out and buy tickets are in Des Moines and Philadelphia and they are not going road tripping to Fayetteville.

They should take the "Championship" word out! I'm surprised the NCAA authoritarians have not stepped in and told them to remove it. The NCAA should be the only ones allowed to use the word in a meet-naming capacity. I'm sure they are having a good laugh at HQ.

Penn Relays Championship of America???

It's not used in that sense. There are a lot of international teams competing at the meet. The College Championship of America races refers to only American colleges competing for that wheel.
