I definitely think Wesley is deserving of money but at the same time I don't think it's fair to deny others money as well. Maybe Chicago can come up with an extra 15k to pay Korir but let's remember that he didn't start with the others.
In my mind, there really are two sets of results. They are as follows:
Men's Elite Race
1 Cheruiyot, Evans KEN 02:06:25
2 Mandago, David KEN 02:07:37
3 Cherigat, Timothy KEN 02:11:39
4 Lauret, Martin NED 02:15:10
5 Mutai, Emmanuel KEN 02:15:36
Mass Race
1 Korir, Wesley K USA 02:13:53
I don't think it's right to deny Lauret 4th place money or Mutai 5th place money. They weren't beaten by Korir as they finished ahead of him. How can you deny them their money?
It drives me nuts that someone has already mentioned a lawsuit. If anything, Laruet and Mutai have a stronger legal case than Korir. The 1st 5 males and 5 females across the finish line are the one's Chicago are supposed to pay. No race uses chip times to pay people..
