Always laugh at 50 yr old dudes with “coaches”. Who ever needs a coach beyond HS? I know some who do “coaching” and they turn nobody down. If you have decent motivation, what good are coaches?
I am highly motivated and self-coached myself from 3:21:57 in 2010 down to 2:39:49 in 2013. Then, I quit thinking in late 2014 thinking I had hit “my peak” because I was struggling to drop any more time.
Started up again in 2016 with a coach. Got down to 2:30:39 within a year and then 2:25:17 last fall. Expecting faster this Spring. Coaches can definitely be helpful.
