I find just being weak, malnutrition, emaciated and underweight is the number one cause of running injuries in competitive runners. If you are running a lot, you have to eat a lot of high quality animal fat and protein.

Fixed it.
I got spiked in the leg during my last race. Was this injury caused by weak hips, or tight hips?

The runner that spiked you had weak hips

That’s great, but how do you fix that

OP states others dumb while OP posted nonsense. There are numerous reasons for leg injuries. One leg may be longer than the other leg. One foot may be larger than the other foot. Overuse. Since most roads have a crown, always running on left side of road may contribute to leg injuries. I could keep listing reasons for leg injuries not related to hip stability.
What an incredibly moronic post by the OP.
Actually if one eats a diet consisting of just grass-fed beef and 8 ounces of water, no injuries can happen. Injuried are caused by the human body fighting against unoptimal diet. Plants are literally poisonous to humans.
Actually- a lot of injuries are caused by poor technique (in addition to too much volume and intensity- but many injuries would not happen at a given level if technique were better- and that is a lot to do with hip/glute strength and stability).
I had tight psoas muscles that would go into spasms from overuse. Was running for a small college at the time but nobody I saw or came into contact with knew anything about that type of injury so I ended up not running for 18 years. Tried every couple years with no success until I was 37. Put together about 4 months of running and racing when the exact injury happened again. This was about 2003. Bumped around the internet until I found exactly what the problem was. Did a simple stretch a few times a day, took it easy for a few weeks and have been running ever since.
While there are other causes for injuries, some (especially those of the feet and calves) are basically your brain knowing something isn't right and is trying to tell you to STOP RUNNING SO MUCH!!
Same thing had a tight weird groin psoas thing..I thought it was a OPubis, hip, labrum tear.
Do a few weird stretches and all of my groin/hip pain go away.. i literally can’t run at all. Tons of pain. I can literally stretch the psoas/groin area and run marathons pain free.
if I do glute and hip strength work it all comes back and i can’t run. Tons of pain. If i just stretch the groin area I run pain free. It must be a nerve thing.
I spent years and tons of money trying to fix it medically. It only made it worse. I wish i was making this up but all of the rehab and hip/glute stuff literally crippled me. I have tried to do it a few times since and it comes back. Just my experience.

Runners get injured because they don't run enough. If you run more, you get stronger and less likely to get injured.
Mine are all overuse injuries from getting on and off the toilet all day.

Yes, that could be true. However it is not that simple just to say those 2 sentences. There are many things one can do instead of weight training. Lydiard only wanted weight training (and only for the lower body) when hills were not
available. Also it depends on the individual. You may have gifts he/she does not have. Or perhaps they should go that way because it works for them and their particular strengths and weaknesses.
In sum, a short trite statement like that can get people hurt.
