I ran a 5:57. The top end middle school guys were sub 5, usually 4:50ish
probably like 6:30
5:24 for 1600m in 7th grade. Training consisted of anywhere from 800m to maybe 2 miles of running, 5 days a week during the season.
Here's my progression;
5:16 for 1600m in 7th grade (12 yrs old)
5:02 for 1600m in 8th grade (13 yrs old)
4:46 for 1600m in 9th grade (14 yrs old)
4:27 for 1600m in 12th grade (17 yrs old)
4:54
5:24 for 1600m in 7th grade (13 yrs old)
5:13 for 1600m in 8th grade (14 yrs old)
4:40 for 1600m in 9th grade (15 yrs old)
4:22 for 1600m in 11th grade (17 yrs old)
I was 13, I ran 1 mile in the rectangular and very slippery halls of my Middle School- start in front of the library, run 5 full laps and end about 3/4 of a lap later in front of the gym, measured with a wheel and measuring tape by my coaches.
5:06. Then I went home, road double on my friend's bike, we fell, he broke my shoulder. I was out for 6 weeks. Ran 5:20 when I came back.
Dayam.
At age 13, ran a 6:49
Age 15, did 5:54
Age 17, 4:41
I turned 14 in April of freshman year. Probably set my PR of 5:07 in May, so will say probably around 5:15 at age 13 (ran 2:57 in the 1000 indoors).
6:42 when I was 7, 6:27 when I was 13.
My son ran 4:50. I would say 4:40 would be a national class time. There is such a gap though between the top guy and say top 100. Probably 4:25-5:00 but within two years it would be 4:15-4:25.
At 13 mine was a pack on Camels, unfiltered.
The year I turned 13, everyone in my gym class was forced to run a mile every Friday. After a whole academic year of trying, I finally broke 7:00. That was good enough to lap every other girl in my class. Girls didn't run back then (early 1970s).
I finally got down to something under 5:30 as an adult, but I never did have any speed over such a short distance.
Like 9:30
I ran track in 7th grade.
mile - 6:50s or 7s (just running though)
200 ~32 (maybe 31s)
100 - 14 or 15
LJ - 14'
PV - 8'
Guess my lifetime PRs for mile, 5K, marathon
I ran like 5:45 in middle school while playing soccer. When I was in high school though I knew of a couple middle schoolers who ran like 4:50 in 7th/8th grade. I ended up being better than them in the long run though so take that how you will.
4:21 mile 16:04 5k and 2:43 marathon
mine is in reply to multi-venter

I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
