I've noticed two things about the Daniels half marathon program, 3rd edition that are confusing me:
it seems not that different from the 5k/10k plan. And, it seems novice-oriented - only one or 2 long M runs, no long T runs, some I work. Is this plan designed for beginners/not serious runners? There is only 1 plan option.
The marathon plan, conversely, offers 6 different options, including for those doing up to 120 miles per week, and has clear options for serious runners.
Secondly, the second edition of Daniels lumps the half marathon/marathon training together. It seems like a huge leap to essentially say in Edition 2 that Half training is the same as marathon training, and then in Edition 3 to say that it is the same as 5k training.
I'm a longtime Daniels follower but I've never trained specifically for the half so i've never run into this. I'm probably missing something - am I? Any advice?
What I'm really looking for is a Daniels half marathon plan for serious/experienced runners doing 70-100 miles per week - basically a 2Q for the half. And I'm just skeptical that the best Daniels half plan out there is the novice Half plan in Edition 3 that looks exactly like the 5k plan with a little less R work.
